PDF-XChange Browser-Plugin in german
Hi on the board
we are using PDF-XChange as replacement of Foxit-Reader (sucks!). All users are very glad of using the "new" PDF-Viewer.
But only two things disturbs our users.
1) While the main-program is in german language, a PDF-file opend over the browser (IE), PDF-XChange comes up in english
2) A preview in MS Outlook 2010 of PDF-attachments is not possible
Is there a chance to fix one or both of the problems ?
THX for all of your replies

Re: PDF-XChange Browser-Plugin in german
Hi Inga,
Thanks for the post - the Standalone Editor and the browser plugin store their settings independently from one another, so any settings will need to be set in both separately. This can be streamlined by exporting your settings from the Standalone application (Edit --> Preferences --> Export Settings...), then opening a PDF in browser and going to Edit --> Preferences --> Import Settings... to import.
As far as the Outlook preview goes, this is a known issue and is something that the Dev. Team hope to fix for the next build of the Editor. We appreciate your patience and understanding here!

Re: PDF-XChange Browser-Plugin in german
Hi Will,
sorry for my late reply, I was on vacation
I've tried out your tipp, but in browser (like Firefox or IE) there was no button like EDIT or PREFERENCES
that I can import my settings to the browser plugin. Where do I find it ?
After opening a PDF-file in the browser, no option for import/export in the plugin was showen. In the full
viewer, I can export the settings.
Attached there is a screenshot. Under options left down there are only properties for the pdf-document
it self
Regards
Inga

Hi Inga,
It seems like the screen-shot has been stripped. Could you re-upload, making sure to wrap it in a RAR/7Zip/Zip archive?
Cheers,

Hi Inga,
Please check the modified copy of your ff-plugin.png, where I have highlighted a small triangle, that if clicked, will open the main Editor menu "File, Edit, View..." from where you can then import your settings.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: PDF-XChange Browser-Plugin in german
Hi Stefan,
think I was blind - it works great THX!!!
But just one little question - we are running PDF-XChange for round about 150 users.
Is it possible to automate the import of the settings (via GPO for example) ?
Kind regards
Inga

Re: PDF-XChange Browser-Plugin in german
Hi Inga,
The settings (for both the stand alone and browser) Editor are stored in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor
So if you copy that from one user which has the correct settings for the browser plug in and distribute them to other users - the all the settings should transfer.

Stefan

Re: PDF-XChange Browser-Plugin in german
Hi Stefan,
thx for your reply - do you know about which hive it is ? If users have their own settings, we overwrite them
on each boot
I've searched through your described regkey but I found only the International key where is LocalID det to de-DE.
If plugin is english International key is de-DE.
Is there a chance to get only the entry that makes PDF-XChange Plugin in browser to set it in german with only
one key set by GPO/Regimport ?
by the way:
Found the post "PDF-XChange Editor IE Plugin language setting" but these options doesn't work for us
Kind regards
Inga

Re: PDF-XChange Browser-Plugin in german
Hi Inga,
Yes the registry will store only the values that are different from the defaults.
For the browser language you need
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Settings.BrowserPlugin\International\t.LocaleID = "de-DE"
Cheers,
Stefan
