V3 vs V5, what's changes?

Post by chanh »

I notice there is a jump from v3 to v5.
What are the changes that warrant a big change in version number?

PS: I see the change log but don't see anything regarding the reason of the big jump in version number.

Thanks

Hello chanh

Thank you for the question. The reason for the big jump from V3 to V5.5 in the Editor was to equalize our other products to make it simpler for everybody to determine what version they have.

For example: Previously, a user could have had the pro bundle with the Editor at V3, PDF-Tools at V4, PDF-XChange Standard at V2 and so on in that fashion.

Now in PDF-XChange Pro bundle, everything but PDF-Tools is at version 5. The reason for PDF-Tools being left behind in these equalizations is we are currently re-vamping it before bringing it to V5.

As for changes in the Editor for V5, please see the version history here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXE_h ... ml#5.5.308

In short, there were features added, bugs fixed, and a new protection system implemented.

I hope this helps!
