Crash on opening Wikibooks calculus.pdf

Post by michael crowe »

PDF-XChange Editor Pro 3.0 (build 307.2)
PDF-XChange Viewer Pro 2.5 (build 214.2)
Windows 8.1

I downloaded the Calculus.pdf from http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Calculus
The PDF opens in Viewer without a problem but Editor crashes each time.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the post and sample - I've tried this here, on Windows 8 and 8.1 and am not able to reproduce the issue. Could you upload a screen-shot of the Edit --> Preferences --> Performance window?

Cheers,

Hi Michael,

Thanks for getting back to me - could you tell me if you're trying to view the PDF in browser, or in the standalone app? Also, are you doing any 'special' that seems to cause the crash?

One last thing - could you please go to Edit --> Export Settings... and send us your settings file? **Please do NOT upload here. Send the settings file to support@pdf-xchange.com and I will forward to the Dev. Team.

Cheers,

I'm not doing anything special. I am viewing the PDF in the standalone applications (both Viewer_x86 and Editor_x64). I have tried double_clicking on the PDF to open it and using "File | Open" with Editor crashing in both cases. I have emailed the Editor settings to you just now.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the settings file. Originally I managed to open your file, but I had the Thumbnails pane open. As soon as I clicked to see the bookmarks pane - the Editor crashed (both inside the browser - crashing the whole browser and as a stand alone app).
So this is a confirmed bug in build 307.2, but I also tested in a pre-release of what will be build 308 later this month - and that version of the Editor didn't crash - so I presume the problem is already fixed, but will still double check with the devs.

Regards,
Stefan

p.s. My colleagues confirmed this is fixed in build 308 of the Editor.
