Upgrade from Viewer to Editor

Post by bawldiggle »

Currently using PDF-XChange Viewer (free)

Would like to upgrade to "Editor" (paid)

I have created some custom formatting in "Viewer" and exported the PDF-XChange Viewer Settings.DAT file.
- with a PDF-XChange open > Menubar > Edit > Export all Settings to data file ...

Do I uninstall Viewer then install "Editor" ?
Will the DAT file import into "Editor" and recreate the custom formatting ?

Thank you :)

Hello bawldiggle,

The Viewer and Editor could be installed side by side, and will not interfere with each other.
Unfortunately due to the different structure of the two products your Viewer settings can not be transferred to the Editor and you will need to set the Editor up separately.

Stefan

Am new to forum - can't find right place to post this - maybe someone will move it to the correct place.

I have used pdfXchange viewer for a long time - just found and installed pdfXchange editor. The only thing that keeps me from buying it, is that I am not able to create form fields (I use MS Office Suite 2007 and 2010). There are hints that a form creator are in the works, but I can find no information that that project is forthcoming.

Is there any information on the 'forms' creator and/or when this app will be compatible with the later versions of MS Office?

Thank you. :?:
What a concept!

Hi holly@aday.net,

Thanks for the post and welcome to the forums - I'm afraid that we don't have any further information as to when the forms designer would be available, I'm afraid, as there are still many higher priority bug fixes and features left to implement.

Cheers,

While looking for the Editor download link I noticed ...
Whether you are a software developer looking for PDF software tools to enhance your products or an end user looking for a ready made PDF creator, PDF convertor, or FREE PDF viewer with FREE OCR to convert image based PDF's and make them text searchable, we offer arguably the most comprehensive & respected pdf software solutions available anywhere in the world today, at a very affordable price, such as PDF-XChange Pro 2012 and the FEATURE RICH & FREE alternative to the Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader, our PDF-XChange Editor for which there is a also a paid for 'PRO' version for even more advanced functionality and features. PDF-XChange Pro 2012 license will also license the popular PDF-XChange Viewer as well.
Does this mean I must retain "Viewer" to view PDFs or does "Editor" do it all too.?

Hi bawldiggle,

The Editor can and will display PDF files, but if you want you can keep the Viewer as well.

Thanks Stefan, :)

I like a tidy PC. I will delete Viewer and just go with Editor (seeing how all Tracker focus is on "Editor")
