document displays fine in Adobe Reader, scrambled in Editor

Post by ketter »

Running the latest version of Editor (v3 Build 307.2). I have a PDF that displays fine in Reader, but is scrambled in Editor. I checked it in PDF Viewer Pro also, but it is scrambled there too. I don't have any control over the creation of these documents - can only receive them as is. I'll attach a sample. Hopefully it is an easy fix.

Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the sample file. It was created by "Oracle11gR1 AS Reports Services" and we've already seen a few more files generated by the same system with the same issue.

We have a ticket for this: #2230: Text Renders Incorrectly in Editor
And one of my colleagues from the dev team just told me that he has added a workaround for such files and that this should be available in the next build.

Regards,
Stefan

While we are talking to developers... :-) I had a user ask if it was possible to change the cross-hair pointer when you are in the draw mode. The small size and low contrast makes it hard to see. I know he has some vision problems that cannot be fixed, but even for me it seems a bit light. Either make the cross-hair lines a little thicker and/or darker or provide an option for the user to switch between options.

Thanks.

Hi Ken,

We should be using the default settings defined in windows for that cursor style (Precision) - can you please see if changing the style/theme for the mouse pointers helps?

I can go into Mouse Properties, Pointers, and change the Scheme. The "Precision Select" cursor adjusts in that window, but when I use it in Editor, there is no difference. I even created a TEST scheme and modified the presicion select cursor to be something other than a cross-hair. Still no change in Editor. Looks to me like the cross-hair is hard coded and not using the Windows scheme. We are running Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit if that matters. And I have installed the 64 bit version of Editor.

Hi Ketter,

You're right - this particular cursor is not a Windows cursor, but one of our own. I'll put in the request to change the crosshair though, but I obviously can't make any promises, as it's up to the Dev. Team as to whether they feel such a change would be reasonable.

Cheersm
