I found today a PDF document which looks different in “Adobe Reader XI” and “PDF-XChange Editor” (tested with the new version 3.0.307.2).

The PDF-XChange Editor cut some of texts. For example Adobe shows “Änderungsantrag - extern” but the Editor displays only “Änderungsantrag -”.

I attach the problematical file (Aenderungsantrag_extern.pdf) and a comparison screenshot.

Mhhh, wait 3 months for the new version (5.5.308) and this bug is not fixed.

We know where the problem is, but the fix is not so simple as it might look.
We will try to do our best to solve that issue as soon as we can.

Again few months later and the version 5.5.310 also not fix the problem.

This bug prevent me to replace Adobe Reader with PDF-XChange Editor on 40 computers.

The ticket was marked as resolved in build 309, but with 310 today I managed to reproduce the issue. It seems like the text is there, but is spanning over two lines, and the second one is almost invisible. Please check the attached screenshot - I can select the text and if I copy it and paste it in e.g. Notepad the full "Änderungsantrag - extern" is visible.

I have reopened the ticket for further investigation.

Also the new version 5.5.312.0 don't fix the problem!

But at the end of the month can we celebrate the birthday of the bug report!

Cool, with version 5.5.313.0 this seems finally fixed. Thanks!

I do some more testing and it looks much better as before! But there are still two texts which get cutted in PDF-XChange Editor.

I attached at screenshot from the Adobe Reader 11 and mark the text which still not shown in the Editor.

I can confirm that with build 313 on my machine the problem is still here, so I've asked the guys working on this ticket for an update.

Seems like there was a problem with our ticketing system, and the last time I asked for update - it didn't send the notifications to our devs. I've just requested an update once again, and from what I can see - it has been assigned to a developer and will be worked on as soon as possible.

What I am seeing here is that Adobe Reader XI detects the two MyriadPro fonts.
PDF-XChange Editor detects no fonts at all.
PDF-XChange Viewer detects 5 different fonts, but no MyriadPro.

So, it seems logic to me that the form is being presented differently in the three PDF applications, and that characters at the end of the line are missing (or jumping to a second line) when the wrong font is being used.

Maybe correct font recognition in a PDF is a complex process ?

I won't try to guess on the cause here, as I wouldn't really know, but will leave that to the Dev. Team during their investigation.

But to answer your question on font recognition - it certainly can be very complex. The PDF format is just generally a complex beast.

we also have this Problem. Some of the newer pdf-documents includes dynamic XFA form elements. This form fields are not completly shown and printed.
Reader like Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, SodaPDF doesn't have Problems with it. So please take a look and fix it. Thank you.

Thanks for the post - XFA forms are extremely difficult to work with and, while we do endeavour to support them as best we can, there are still known issues. We are intending to release a build in the spring, to address these issues. Until, we may release small fixes to correct some issues, but addressing most concerns will take place later on.
