Hi Guys;

Any plan to implement Windows autoscroll?

I use your product for large format autocad drawing files and need to view at 100%, so autoscroll would be a real time saver.

Thanks and regards;

Mark

HI MArk,

the Editor will get Autoscrolling like the Viewer has. Maybe build 308 in March if all goes well.

It seems that some users have been waiting a long time for this feature.

It has finally arrived in build 322, but it's rather useless because it is too slow, and flickers quite badly. It takes 2:15 to scroll a US Letter page. I am using PDF-XChange on a 1200x1600 portrait monitor, with a dual monitor system.

Middle-click fast scroll is much better. One can adjust the scroll speed by carefully adjusting the position of the down arrow (or up arrow to scroll up).

A quick test on a text heavy document suggests that for skim reading about 15 seconds per page is about right, while for normal reading one would need about 45 seconds.

Hi Bhikkhu,

I do agree that some form of customization is needed - but I just did some reading online - the average reading speed is about 200 words a minute, and in a 72 character per line, 40 lines per page text arrangement there are 420-450 words per page - so the 2 minutes it takes the current auto scroll to go through a page are about right for the average reader. Admittedly there are people reading much faster, and skim reading through pages is a separate case on it's own (but then mouse or other form of scrolling will probably be suited better)!

I will check with the devs what we can do so that the auto scroll speed can be customized in the future.

Cheers,
Stefan

The publication I used for my tests has about 600 words per page.

Thanks Bhikkhu,

Apparently you read much faster than the average (myself included - I am at about 220-230 words in English which is not my first language) - so you do need different speed options :)
Already passed to the dev team - awaiting their feedback now.

Stefan

Hello guys,

The Auto-scroll speed can be modified by pressing Up and Down arrows once the Auto-scroll is active.
  • Press CTRL + SHIFT + H to initiate auto scroll.
    You can adjust the scroll speed using the Up or Down arrow keys.
    Press CTRL + SHIFT + H to stop auto scroll.
    Press the minus (-) key to change the scroll direction.
Cheers,
Alex

That's helpful. The minus (-) key shortcut needs a rethink. Minus reverses scroll direction, while Plus zooms in, or is that just on my customised UI?

Hi Bhikkhu,

For me the - key was changing the thumbnails size as well as reversing the direction, while the + was only zooming those thumbs back in. So the - seems to keep it's normal behaviour + getting the reverse scroll use. You can reverse the scroll with just the arrows as well if you don't want to use the - key.

Stefan

After I opened the Customise dialogue to see what keys were assigned (I do not think I changed anything), the Up Down keys no longer do anything, and the Minus key now zooms out. :(

After restarting, the Up Down keys now work again, while minus does two things: it zooms out and reverses the scrolling direction.

Workable, but may need some more polish.

Hello Bhikkhu,

The default shortcuts for the ZoomIn/ZoomOut on the Pages View are Ctrl+"Num +"/Ctrl+"Num -";
