PDF in browser

Post by narenbisht »

I had version 306 installed & PDF opened fine in Internet Explorer & Comodo Dragon.

Uninstalled 306, restarted system, installed 307, restarted system. PDF opens fine in Internet Explorer. PDF doesn't open in Comodo Dragon i.e I get the window to download PDF.

It was complete install i.e no custom. I checked preferences - file associations - PDF Editor is set as default & PDF files in browsers is enabled.

With version 306, a plugin was installed in Comodo Dragon i.e PDF Editor plugin was there in Comodo Dragon plugins.

With version 307, no plugin was installed in Comodo Dragon i.e PDF Editor plugin is not there in Comodo Dragon plugins. Is this new design or corrupted install here?

Any info to open PDF in Comodo Dragon browser?

Hi ytsmabeer,

Can you please download and test build 307.1 we released a few hours after your yesterday post and check if this build fixes the problem (it should).

Stefan

Hi Guys,

fixed, tested and confirmed working in build 307.1. Grab it from the downloads page - the version numbers may still say 307 but the new build is up and I tested this - it works again now.

:-)

Hi narenbisht,

We technically only support IE, Opera, Chrome and Firefox. There are simply too many browsers out there for us to possibly support them all. If the plugin is working in Google Chrome, then I'm afraid that there is likely nothing more that we can do to help here.

If it is not working in Chrome, then please let us know and we will do our utmost to help.

Cheers,

As I have mentioned in my opening post that version 306 worked in Comodo Dragon. So why version 307 & 307.1 is not working in Comodo Dragon? What got changed?

Hi narenbisht,

I'm afraid that I couldn't possibly say, off the top of my head. But, as stated before, I'm afraid that there's nothing that we can do to help here as we do not officially support this browser.

Cheers,

Hi narenbisht,

It may be that if the browser is very popular, then we can begin to support it. I also have spoken to the Dev. Team about the problem and they are willing to take a look and see what can be to fix the issue, so I come bearing good news ;) :)

Hi ;)

Comodo Dragon is a Google Chrome based navigator... more secure...

Easy to do support then :)

Before all work good, and now I see the animated green arrow but after a blank page !!!

It seems I'm missing something...

I've downloaded and installed version 307.1 and I still can't open PDF files in Opera. There is no PDF plugin listed. I've reinstalled it several times to no avail.

I'm using Opera 19 and Windows 8.1

Hi rpsgc,

Thanks for the post - please first make sure that the Editor is set as the Default and to View PDF's in browser by going to Edit --> Preferences --> File Associations. Next, please open Opera and go to View --> Developer Tools --> Plugins and make sure that all other PDF Reader plugins are disabled.

I'm dumbfounded.

Pressing the 'Make Default PDF Application' button apparently worked, even though everything at 'File Associations' was already checked.

But then I ask, isn't that supposed to happen automatically during setup? I selected the options to make PDF-XChange Editor the default application and to view PDF files in the browser during its installation yet it didn't install the plug-in.

I didn't have this problem with Windows 7 though. So, it must be either witchcraft or some problem with Windows 8.1

Thanks.

Hi rpsgc,

If Witchcraft is the cause, then I'm afraid that it would be Microsoft's issue, as we use Wizadry and Miracles to create our software.

On that note, I've actually just been informed by our resident Warlocks that there is an issue with the plugin in IE 9 on Windows 7 and it may be that the issue is related. You may find that, with the release of build 307.2, the issue is fixed. This is due out later this month.

If you find not fixed, please let us know and we'll dig deeper!
