Change default folders

Hi everyone,

is there a way to set a default directory for opening and/or saving files?

I searched the property window but didn't find a proper option.

Thanks in advance.

Hello HLServices,

Indeed in the current build of the Editor the default save location is always the one where the file was originally opened from. We are going to change that in a future build.

Stefan

Please do change it. The default behaviour is fine for when I load an existing file on the HD, but when I load a temporary download file and go to save as! Ugh! User/appdata/local/opera/opera/temporary_downloads Wow! Mess that up and I will never find it again from the file manager.

Most of my other programs are set to default to a documents root -- not the Microsoft one which is always hard to find.

What is especially irritating is that when I save a file to a folder, nested up to five levels deep, and then have to go through the same clicking sequence to get to the same folder. It would be nice if it at least stayed there where it was, like the page printing controls do.

Otherwise, the new pdfviewer editor is a huge improvement, especially in printing speed. Thanks.

Hi Ivan,

the intention was to do the same in the Editor as the Viewer does now, namely 3 options:
1. Last Used Folder
2. Original Document's Folder
3. User defined path

These are in the Viewer under Edit --> Preferences --> General --> Saving Documents

The plan was to do this for 308 - that is one build after the next. That is still the plan but the development team leader has suggested we can try to get "Last Used Folder" into 307 in a few weeks. No promises but we'll do our best.

I hope that helps.

Good news! Thanks. Waiting a few weeks is no problem now that I know you are working on it.
