Facing Page Mode and Next Page
I noticed that in the Editor when it's in showing two pages in the facing page mode that when you tell it to advance to the next page you have to do it twice for it to advance. In the old viewer you just had to do it one time and it would advance to the next two pages.

Hi ds1,
Thanks for the post - I've just tested and can confirm this behaviour. I have created an internal devlopment ticket to track the progress of this. Please either reference ticket RT-2147 or post on this thread if/when requesting updates.
Hope that helps!

Re: Facing Page Mode and Next Page
I just came across this issue when browsing a file with facing pages mode, showing the cover on the right.
I thought I had seen it reported before, so I searched and found this old thread.
Has it reached the top of the pile of things to be addressed yet?

Hi Bhikkhu,
I'm not sure about top of the pile, but it's certainly on the list. We do have a number of higher priority items that may take precedent, but I will do what I can to see whether or not this can be pushed for the next build.

Re: Facing Page Mode and Next Page
EDITED:
There are several ways to navigate between pages. One can use:
- the left and right arrows just beneath the pages,
- the vertical scroll bar,
- the "pg up" and "pg dn"-buttons on the numeric keyboard, ...
And, the zooming factor also seems to play a role in this.
What I did find out is that when using the left and right arrows (icon-buttons), you have to click twice to see the next (or previous) two pages. When using the "pg up" and "pg dn"-keyboard-buttons or the vertical scrollbar, the pages must be completely visible (top border and bottom border), to make that pages continue two by two at a time. If not, there is only a little movement from the top of the pages towards the bottom of the pages, and so you have to press the button, or to click, one more time, to make them jump to the next two pages.
I hope that you can confirm this behaviour.
Regards.

Re: Facing Page Mode and Next Page
Hi Willy.
Best
Regards
Confirmed. This issue will be fixed in the near future (ticket for that is RT-2147).What I did find out is that when using the left and right arrows (icon-buttons), you have to click twice to see the next (or previous) two pages.
It is the correct behaviour because "pg up/dn" scrolls not page by page (or by page pairs) BUT by the current visible height of the pages view window. The same behavior you can see in other programs (Acrobat, Microsoft Word, etc), so we are conforming to the currently expected standard behaviour..When using the "pg up" and "pg dn"-keyboard-buttons or the vertical scrollbar, the pages must be completely visible (top border and bottom border), to make that pages continue two by two at a time. If not, there is only a little movement from the top of the pages towards the bottom of the pages, and so you have to press the button, or to click, one more time, to make them jump to the next two pages.

Hello ds1,
Thanks for the post. We are looking to release the next build in the third week of May 2015.
It is difficult to know whether or not the issue is resolved for build 313. I will be sure to ask the developer in charge for an official update.
We appreciate your patience with regards to this and hope to have it resolved soon.
Cheers!

Re: Facing Page Mode and Next Page
I'm running version 313.1, and I zoomed way out, and I still need to click the next page button twice to have it move forward when displaying side-by-side pages.

Re: Facing Page Mode and Next Page
I can only confirm that I also have to click the Next Page icon/button twice to make PDF-XChange Editor (v5.5 - build 313.1) go to the next two pages while the "Show Two Pages side by side"-view is active.
Even though you may wonder how the "Next Page" button should really behave... It is not a "Next Two Pages" button...
So, each time you click the button it should only advance "one" page at a time ?
I checked the behaviour of Adobe Reader XI in the same view mode...
When the (left, right, top and bottom) borders of the (two) shown pages are all visible, then the "Show Next Page" button, makes the pages advance by two pages at a time.
When zooming-in a little bit more, the behaviour stays the same (two pages at a time). But, when further zooming-in, it switches to one page at a time.
It is a rather difficult question to decide how it should work in the most comfortable/practical way...

I've only been asking for it to operate the way the viewer does, and this issue was already given a ticket.

Never mind how Adobe Reader behaves. We only want it to behave like the Viewer.ds1 wrote:I've only been asking for it to operate the way the viewer does, and this issue was already given a ticket.
As far as I can tell, in the Viewer, the next page button jumps two pages as long as two pages fit the width of the view port. When zoomed in further, it moves from showing the left page to showing the right page.

Am experiencing this behavior in 317.1.
The GUI buttons for next/prev page in the facing mode work as expected (skip 2 pages), but corresponding keyboard shortcuts (ctrl+arrows or arrows alone) only change the page counter by 1.

Re: Facing Page Mode and Next Page
When I use the Page Down/ Page Up keys the two page facing view skips by two pages — the same as using the buttons on the navigation toolbar.
However, using the Ctrl + Right/Left shortcuts skip by a single page.
Those are the shortcuts assigned to the commands Next Page, Previous Page.
If I try to assign Page Down to that instead, no message is shown to indicate that it is already assigned to something else.

Re: Facing Page Mode and Next Page
thanks Bhikkhu,
on restoring my setting to default I now see the same. Honestly I'm not sure if this is by design or oversight. The developer who is responsible for this is on holidays until next week. Given the somewhat low priority of this I don't expect an answer as to the intention here until next week.
If I haven't posted on here with the reasoning for the current behaviour by next Tuesday, bump me and I'll follow up?

Re: Facing Page Mode and Next Page
Still the same behaviour that I noted before.
The Left/Right buttons skip two pages in facing pages mode, as does PageUp/Down, but Ctrl Left/Right still skip just one page, so it takes two shortcuts to get to the next pair of pages.

Re: Facing Page Mode and Next Page
This is how 321 works for me when Two Pages mode is used.
Zoomed to size smaller than the width and height of the window:
- Arrow icons jump 2 pages on a single click in Standard mode, but 1 page in Ribbon mode.
- Cursor left/right jumps 1 page on a single click in Standard mode, but 2 pages in Ribbon mode.
- CTRL + cursor left/right jumps 1 page on a single click in Standard mode, but 2 pages in Ribbon mode.
- Cursor up/down jumps 2 pages on a single click in Standard mode, but does nothing in Ribbon mode.
- CTRL + cursor up/down jumps 1 page in Standard and Ribbon mode.
Zoomed to size smaller than the width, but larger than the height of the window:
Same as above with one exception:
- Cursor up/down scrolls up/down.
Zoomed to size larger than the width and height of the window:

- CTRL + cursor up/down jumps 1 page on a single click. Viewing area is centered to top-left corner in Standard mode, but no in Ribbon mode.
That the viewing area is not centered on the top-left corner of a page in Two Page Ribbon mode is at least inconvenient, maybe rather a bug. Even more so when Ribbon mode is used in Two Page continuous mode, because then the page number count increases, but the viewing area doesn't move a bit (Single Page works).
