Flatten comments displace lines

If we use Autodesk Inventor 2013 to create/export PDF drawings, use the PDF-XChange Editor (3.0.306.1) to add some comments and then flatten this comments, all the lines in the drawing get displaced!

Look at the screenshot for example. I also added a test document for you.

Greetings,
Tim Gerundt

Here is a screenshot from the problem!

Btw: Why can't I attach JPEG or PNG-Images to the board?

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the sample. I will have it checked by our devs. As for the images - we've turned those off because of bots posting indecent pictures. So you need to either include the screenshots in a PDF, or zip/rar/7z them before attaching.

Stefan

Hi again Tim,

I managed to reproduce the bug with build 306, but when we tested with the current working version (the one that will become build 307) - the problem is not there - so this one is already fixed and you just need to wait for us to release build 307 and update to that.

Regards,
Stefan

Sounds good that it is already fixed in the next version! Now it means WAITING for the release!

I have just installed build 307. This issue still seems to be there.
The first PDF I edited was produced by AutoCAD LT 2013. I marked it up, then flattened my comments.
A number of lines on the original page were moved.

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for trying that - this is really odd because, like Stefan, I'm not able to reproduce the issue with build 307 either.

I'd like to double check that the update did infact go through properly - could you send a screen-shot of your Help --> about dialogue?

Cheers,

Hi gerundt,

Could you tell me what version and architecture of Windows you are using? i.e. Windows 7 Home Premium x86

Cheers,

If it may help... I began reading this topic and also did a test.

I am able to reproduce the problem by using the Editor version 3.0 (build 307.0) on Windows 7 32-bit home edition.

Something to add for your information is that when you execute the Flatten Comments command, nothing seems to go wrong... It is only when you Save and Close the PDF and you re-open it, that you will see that the north-west part of the object in the room has been moved a little bit (see attachment = JPG in a ZIP-file).

Hi Willy,

Thanks for that info., that's most helpful! I'll try testing again on my machine and, failing that, will setup a VM to test, then will report back with my findings.

If I'm forced to setup the VM, it will likely be a day - two days before I'm able to post back on the subject, as I would have install it from scratch.

Cheers,

Hi guys,

I've managed to reproduce the issue, so I will forward to the Dev. Team to analyze and fix as soon as is possible.

Cheers,

Is this issue seeing a resurrection ... please refer attached document for illustration.

Comments are being offset from the desired position on flattening when the Document - Extract Pages option is used in PDF-XChange Editor 6.0.317.1 running on MS Windows 10.0.10586 Professional 64-bit.

The position of the flattened comment is being offset (and in some cases disappearing - maybe due to a much larger offset) from the original position.

Hello Mantao,

Using Comments -> Flatten comments does work properly - the comments are flattened where they should, but indeed using "Extract Pages" and selecting to flatten comments in the process does offset them. A bit less for me than it did in your sample, but still significantly.

I have made a ticket for our devs, so that they can investigate this:
#3555: Editor 317.1: Document -> Extract Pages (with Comments being flattened), offsets the comments.

Stefan

Thanks Stefan for your prompt follow-up.

It might be worth noting that Extract Pages (with Comments flattened), doesn't always offset the comments. It happens pretty often, but we are a yet unable to identify the cause or type of source document that causes the issue.

Hope you and your team will have a better insight in getting to the cause of the problem, and have a fix to remedy the same.

Thanks for the update mantao,

It is good to know that this doesn't happen always - I will make sure to add it in the ticket. But with the sample file you provided - we managed to reproduce this - so we will get it fixed. If we need further samples from you - I will let you know!

Stefan
