Same settings for all PDF's on opening?
I installed new build PDF-XChange Editor Version 3.0 Build 306.0.
How to I get every PDF file new or old to open with the following settings all the time?
Page layout "Two Pages"
Show gaps between pages "unchecked"
Show cover in 2 pages view "Checked"
Zoom "Fit Page"
Is this possible now or in the near future?

Re: Same settings for all PDF's on opening?
Update!
Ok I just realized I had to select "Facing" for Default Page layout. I did not know that "facing" is the same thing as "two pages" view. Also Default Page Zoom is also working now. So it seems the only issues still remaining are both "Show gaps between pages" and "Show cover in 2 pages view" settings are still not saving.
Also how do I get a pdf to open at the same spot I left off when it was closed as I can't seem to figure that out.
And any updates on getting the thumbnails for pdf's working in folders?
Thanks

Re: Same settings for all PDF's on opening?
Just to be clear as far as the "Show cover in 2 pages view"
It is remembered when opening the same pdf however if i open a new pdf that I just download for example "Show cover in 2 pages view" is never checked.
I would like "Show cover in 2 pages view" to always be checked
And I would also like "Show gaps between pages" always unchecked when opening new pdf's.
Just wanted to make sure you understand what I am trying to accomplish
Thanks again and have a great weekend

Hi gate1975mlm,
Thanks for the post - this is working as expected for me, in build 306 (released Friday), so please make sure that you have build 306 by downloading and running this installer:

Let me know how this goes!

Hi gate1975mlm,
Thanks for getting back to me - please make sure that you're not opening documents from the recents list with the option, in the Preferences, to "Restore last used Pages Layout and Zoom settings....", under the PAge Display heading, as this will override the options that you have specified within the View menu, for documents being opened from the recents list. If this option is checked, in the Preferences, then please try unchecking it and see if that helps.
Cheers,

Yes "Restore last used Pages Layout and Zoom settings" for pages from the recent list on document opening is already unchecked. Will - Tracker Supp wrote:Hi gate1975mlm,

"Show gaps between pages" keeps enabling itself and "Show cover in 2 pages view" keeps disabling itself every time I open a pdf file.
Are you not seeing this happen on your end?

Re: Same settings for all PDF's on opening?
Hi gate1975mlm,
No, this is working as expected for me and a colleague and was something that was specifically addressed in 306
Could you try an re-installation of the product, following these instructions?
Please do ** exactly ** as follows:
1: Please uninstall all you have installed so far from the Windows control
panel (in Windows XP this is in the option 'ADD/Remove Programs' - in
Vista 'Programs and Features') and restart your PC when complete.
2: Download and start this installer :
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVE3.zip
3: When asked by the installer - please copy/paste your serial number
into the installer as appropriate.
4: Now complete the install and restart Windows as instructed
5: Open any application -(e.g. MS Word/Excel etc) and open a document -
then print (File -> Print) to the PDF-XChange Printer in your 'Printers
List' and a PDF file will be created as required.
6: Open the PDF-XChange Viewer - go to the Help Menu ->
Enter Serial Key option and ensure the above serial number is also
copy/pasted there and all should be well.
I'm keen to hear how this goes!

Re: Same settings for all PDF's on opening?
Ok I did exactly what you said however I do not have "PDF-XChange Viewer" installed just the new editor. Also there is no PDF-XChange Printer in the list of printers. But anyway unfortunately uninstalling and reinstalling did not fix this issue. Will - Tracker Supp wrote:Hi gate1975mlm,

Hi gate1975mlm,
I think, at this point, we would need to remote into your machine and take a look ourselves - we cannot reproduce the issue here at all and, without being able to reproduce it, we cannot fix it.
If that is acceptable to you, then please see this KB article and email support@pdf-xchange.com, with a link back to this topic and the signed indemnity form, and we'll log in and take a look:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowled ... e-an-issue
**Note: Please do NOT post your TeamViewer credentials on here, as this would allow anyone to login to your machine!!
Cheers,

Re: Same settings for all PDF's on opening?
Also over the weekend I did a reformat and fresh install of Windows 7 Home 64 Bit and "Show gaps between pages" keeps enabling itself and "Show cover in 2 pages view" keeps disabling itself every time I open a pdf file with PDF-XChange Editor Version 3.0 Build 306.0.
So just to confirm these 2 features should be remembering with when I open all pdf files correct?

Re: Same settings for all PDF's on opening?
Hi
the PDF 'form' you referred to is not actually a fill-able form but a simple PDF that you sue the Typewriter Tool to fill out - so yes this is normal.
Regards the settings for page display, I find that I can restore the settings for the cover page but that Show gaps seems to be not remembered. You do need to change the settings then close the Editor as the changes to settings are not saved until the Editor is closed.
Also make sure that your document is not overriding your preferences because it is in the recent list. There is a setting to "Restore last used Pages Layout and Zoom settings for pages from the Recent list on document opening." as this will override other preferences.
Does that help?

Re: Same settings for all PDF's on opening?
"Default page layout" and "Default Page Zoom" settings are now remembered every time I open any pdf which is great. However there seems to be no way at all to have both "Show gaps between pages" and "Show cover in 2 pages view" settings remembered. There should be a setting under preferences to save how I want both Show gaps between pages" and "Show cover in 2 pages view" to be used ""enabled or disabled".Paul - Tracker Supp wrote:Hi

Now "Will - Tracker Supp" said he would need to connect to my computer remotely because he his not seeing this issue on his computer.
Now before I do this I just want to confirm that this is indeed a "bug"? Or does PDF-XChange Editor not have the feature to save the settings for both "Show gaps between pages" and "Show cover in 2 pages view"

Hi gate1975mlm,
I can confirm that the Editor is not 'remembering' this the way the Viewer does. We will make changes to the Editor such that it behaves as the Viewer does. There is a ticket for this (internal only) RT#2091: Improve behaviour for Show Gap and Show Cover page
We will try to get this in the next build however this is not a high priority item and I can't promise when it will be done.
