9.1.356.0 Disabling Thumbnails animation?
Is there any way to disable the animation that Thumbnails shows on scroll? I'd rather the display update immediately, rather than waste even a little user time as it does currently.
None found in Help, or Customize UI.
Thanks.
PS My gratitude to the designer who did not put such an animation on the page view!

Thanks Lev, but that's already Off:
Also I think it is for the doc pages themselves not the Thumbnails' UI.
Thanks anyway for the thought.

Hi, chrisjj
I have to admit I am confused to hear you mention a thumbnail animation. The only thing akin to that I can think of is when the thumbnail pane scrolls due to changing the selected page with the arrow keys (which is currently broken due to a bug), or when scrolling with a touchscreen device, as is most commonly expected these days when scrolling through a list by hand.
Could you please provide a gif to showcase the "animation" you speak of here, so I can identify whether it is something intentional or an issue which we can resolve.
Kind regards,

It is a Thumbnails (the pane thus titled) animation.TrackerSupp-Daniel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 7:17 pm I have to admit I am confused to hear you mention a thumbnail animation.
That's the one! Also on clicking the scroll bar off the scroll button.TrackerSupp-Daniel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 7:17 pm The only thing akin to that I can think of is when the thumbnail pane scrolls due to changing the selected page with the arrow keys (which is currently broken due to a bug)
Sorry to be unclear. Do you still need a GIF?

Re: 9.1.356.0 Disabling Thumbnails animation?
Hi, chrisjj
No need for a Gif then, but this begs the question, if you are that concerned about the speed of navigation, why not use one of the faster methods that already exist, instead of panning through the document with the arrow keys?
If you know the page you need to get to, you can type it into the "page number" field at the bottom of the display area, and if you need to quickly jump to the halfway mark in the document, you can click and drag the scroll bar much more rapidly than the keyboard could take you in any document with more than 10 pages.
I will still forward this to our Dev team, but I cannot promise that there will be any changes on this front.
Kind regards,

Re: 9.1.356.0 Disabling Thumbnails animation?
Thanks for the suggestions, but panning through is what I want. To verify all pages are free of display errors (which PDF-Tools triggers in Acrobat).TrackerSupp-Daniel wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 9:28 pmwhy not use one of the faster methods that already exist, instead of panning through the document with the arrow keys?
And arrow/page keys is the fastest way I know. Is there faster?
Perhaps put this to the dev who made the right decision to retain classic toolbars?TrackerSupp-Daniel wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 9:28 pmI will still forward this to our Dev team, but I cannot promise that there will be any changes on this front.

Problem is that Editor uses soft-scrolling for its thumbnails window when you navigate in the document instead of navigating in the thumbnail panel. Editor does not follow Windows' settings in that regard, even ignoring Windows' accessibility option to turn off all unneeded animations.

Furthermore it can be distracting to have thumbnails still scrolling while you already reached the document page, because something at the side of the screen is still moving.

Timir, I like how you called it soft scrolling. Yup, it does fall a way short of smooth scrolling - at least on this (powerful) machine.
With respect to the devs (and I do have great respect for them generally) I hope they will give more appreciation to users who spend many hours a day using the product.
Agreed. There's really no excuse for this.Timur Born wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 11:04 amEditor does not follow Windows' settings in that regard, even ignoring Windows' accessibility option to turn off all unneeded animations.

Hi, chrisjj
I wanted to mention that after some further discussion, I have created a formal feature request for this item:
RT#5691: FR: option to disable scroll smoothing.
Like usual, this is internal only, and I am unable to guarantee implementation or a timeline at this junction. If you would like updates on it in the future, please ask here or refer to the ticket number above.
Kind regards,

Thanks. Could you please include the suggestion that this respect the relevant existing Windows accessibility option? [x] Turn off all unnecessary animations (where possible) . Thank you.
