Comparing other programs and attempting to decide

I've trialed several programs. From the Cadillac's to the Beetle.
What I have found is that my specialized trade requires a few features.
Here's what I require:

1) Measurement must have a continuance. What I mean is, I take off a room, I must be able to move to another room and continue the same measurement. Most call it "New Section".

2) Some sort of integration to Excel. Be it direct or Drag & Drop.

3) The ability of creating My Own assemblies, reports or comments formatted by me.

After several trials with others I'm back to you because your program is so easy to work with.
Add these items in and I will buy!

Hi robert@richwood,

Thank for the post and kind words.

1) As a continuation of a measurement tool annotation, you wish to be able to e.g. left click to start the annotation and measure the first area, then right click >Next section and continue the measurement directly adjacent to the first? Would you then also request a Total length? I have drawn a mock-up of my interpretation of your requirements:

2) "Some sort of integration to Excel. Be it direct or Drag & Drop." I am afraid you are going to need to be more specific here. Currently, Excel documents can be converted to PDF using the Toolbar Add-in included with PDF-XChange Standard, but it is not yet possible to convert from PDF to Excel

3) Could you please provide more details with regards to this point?

1) Close enough. I'd actually start again in a different detail, but the sum of each area to a single total.

2) Not looking to convert the .Pdf to Excel, just bring the totals from Request #1 into an existing Excel Spreadsheet.
2a) Seems you do have some sort of 'send to CSV file' now.

3) In your program, it's more of using your Comments and renaming the (setting scale and color for each). I'm looking to build a Template with these Comments (assemblies) in a simple location, much like you can keep the page window open.. A similar Templates window.

Dealing with #1

I have the comments window open, comments named by what I'm taking off.
Develops a nice list, but can not 'sum' all the separate footages.

I see if I click on a comment, a properties window opens.
If I hold 'shift key' and click on another, the window is gone.
That could be the answer to summing up all the separate take-offs.
Click on the first, scroll to the last and have the sum show.

Possible?

The best would be to move that comments list to an Excel Workbook.
But it would have to be Cell specific.

Another program I have tried uses a syntax like this
<began data> placed in a cell to designate where the information goes.

Again, Possible?

Hello robert@richwood

Thanks for the post.
1) Close enough. I'd actually start again in a different detail, but the sum of each area to a single total.
I have placed an official feature request for this. I cannot guarantee that it will be implemented, but it will be seriously considered by the development team.

There is already a feature request for custom comments summary, which would allow you to only summarize some comments and specify the details to be included in the summary.
The best would be to move that comments list to an Excel Workbook.
But it would have to be Cell specific.
I will need to discuss this with the development team as I am not sure this is possible.

Thank you for your input.
Cheers!

Hello,
The best would be to move that comments list to an Excel Workbook.
But it would have to be Cell specific.
An internal work item has been created for this. This is being treated as a long-term feature request.

Cheers!
