Hi to all,
can you provide us with a detailed anticipation about the new coming PDF-XChange PRO SDK ?
For example:
- Will be the two set of api (PXC_* and PXCp_*) merged under a unique set, permitting to read, modifying and save a pdf using a unique library handle ?
- Will be the new library capable to load non PDF/A files, manipulate their pages (insert, delete, add further content, ...) and saving it as PDF/A conformant pdf ?
- As a bonus, will be the library capable of read/write XPS files ?
- What are the enhancements/new features that will be added ?
Many thanks.
Carlo Marsura

Hi Carlo,
We are not yet ready to publish any information in this respect but hope to do so shortly after the new Editor is released for end users.
Best,
Stefan

Re: Anticipations on new PDF-XChange PRO SDK
Hi,
we will I am afraid not be posting any dates until much nearer the anticipated release date - we have been criticised heavily (quite fairly in all truth) for missing several promised dates for our Viewer/Editor which is finally being released to end users later this week and have learned our lesson - until we can be absolutley confident of a release date we will not make any promises and that includes features too.
What I will say is that the bulk of the code is already written as it is common with the new Viewer/Editor libraries - what we have to do now is refine the 'Higher Level' API to some degree for developers and also provide examples and documentation - and bearing in mind that the new Viewer/Editor SDK alone as gone from a couple of hundred methods/functions etc - to several 1000's - this is no small task.
The first product in the new SDK releases will be the Viewer SDK which in many situations this will actually perform the functions some developer's will have previosuly used the Tools SDK for - there is a considerable overlap in functionality capability and also has a plugin architecture to allow developers to write plugins for our end user offerings.
The Plugin SDK will be available we hope at the end beginning of the Summer with the Viewer/Editor looking like being available towards mid/end of the summer - again this is virtually complete - we will be working on Doc's and examples from some time in May assuming we have no issues with the end user releases ...
But please note - this is not a promise or guarentee but a 'guesstimate' based on the info currently available.
