xccdx40.dll error

Post by dblwizard » Mon Sep 03, 2012 2:32 am

Howdy,

I'm getting an error on one of my servers. I'm using your components in a vb6 com component running in COM+ and used in an ASP website. When this error occurs I'm getting a "COM Surrogate" message and dump. I can not attach the dump files because the extension are not allowed to be uploaded. There were 4 files located in the dump directory: appcompat.txt, dllhost.exe.hdmp, dllhost.exe.mdmp, manifest.txt. What file types do you allow to be uploaded. I also tried zipping the files but zipx files are not allowed either.

The message in the app log is:

Faulting application dllhost.exe, version 5.2.3790.3959, faulting module xccdx40.dll, version 4.0.201.0, fault address 0x0000e602.

This is followed by a second message:

The system has called a custom component and that component has failed and generated an exception. This indicates a problem with the custom component. Notify the developer of this component that a failure has occurred and provide them with the information below.
Component Prog ID:
Server Application ID: {21EDB390-E3C6-456A-8ADF-0BF4E53D58BC}
Server Application Instance ID:
{0A66E83F-4A10-422A-9A17-6D52BE2F21CF}
Server Application Name: LEImage
The serious nature of this error has caused the process to terminate.
Exception: C0000005
Address: 0x0214E602
Call Stack:
xccdx40!DSBitStream::SkipSpecBits(int,unsigned long) + 0x52

Can anybody tell me what is causing this error?

The two text files are as follows:
manifest.txt:

Hello dblwizard,

You can attach .pdf, .zip and .7z files to these forums, so please try to archive your samples once again with an archived that will produce .zip file - and try uploading it again. There is also a 5MB limit on file attachments.

Best,
Stefan

Here is the zip file. If you allow .zip why not allow .zipx? It would be nice if you had those files listed on the upload form.

Thanks dblwizard,

We discussed this case in the team, and the initial advise is that you should install and test with build 205 of our SDK, and if the problem still persists please prepare a sample project and step by step instructions that will help us reproduce your problem, as we need to be able to replicate it at our end to be able to attempt a fix.

Best,
Stefan

Where do I get the copy of 205? The last build I have has a date of I think 4/18/12. I don't have access to the server right now to confirm the version number but I remember the that being sometime in April of this year.

Also the problem is that I can't reproduce error .. it happens in frequently but I have not found a sequence that makes it happen. Is there anyway you could provide me with a debug version of the dll that might provide more information, or give me some idea in what Call I'm making that this errors happens in so that I can add some additional logging that might shed some light on when this is happening.

Thanks

dbl

Hi dblwizard,

You can download version 205 from here:
http://www.tracker-software.com/buy-now/sdk
Please if you see the same error again with the new version let us know and we will move forward to the next step in the troubleshooting process.
Thanks.

Sincerely,
