OCR - Preserve Original v Convert to Bitmap

Fri Sep 18, 2015 5:59 pm

I've noticed that within the free viewer (mentioned in my earlier posts) that when using OCR
these two options are available:

1) Preserve Original Content & Add Text Layer
2) Convert Page Content to Image Only - Add text As A Layer

When I use the OCX, there is a dpi option which clearly controls the final pdf based on #2 above.

How can I get the output from COR to be like #1 above (no conversion to image) ?

Hi whoit,

Thanks for the post, however, I'm not sure that I understand - are you looking to have no image layer at all and just a text layer? If so, I'm afraid that this isn't possible with our OCR, at this time.

If not, then please clarify exactly what you're looking to achieve.

Thanks,

What I'm saying is that in the Viewer I have two options,
but in the OCX I do not see the same two options - I can only get the original output as a bitmap plus a new ocr text layer.

How do I keep the original plus the ocr text layer like I can do in the viewer?

What do you means "OCX" ?

Also - are you an end user or a licensed user of one of our SDK's for developer's - if so, which one please ?

We're a developer (have been for many years).

I keep writing "ocx" but I'm referring to the OCR dll(s) and API.

The option 1) is not yet supported in the current version of the OCR SDK.

We are working on new release of this SDK where this feature is covered.

For now we do not provide a release date of updated OCR SDK.

So, to make sure I have this correctly:

In the free viewer I can choose to keep the original content or convert to bitmap when using OCR,
but in the SDK I can only convert to bitmap when using OCR?

If this is the case, what are the plans to offer the 'keep original content' via SDK?
This seems to be a pretty significant feature to offer - I have clients who are specifically interested
in this capability.

As explained - this is coming in a future release of the OCR SDK ...

Thanks for your patience.
