Clarion ocr example problem
I've downloaded 'PDF-XChange PRO SDK' for clarion. When I try 'ocrtest.app' it works well, but 'ocr2test.app' it trows a exception. I think that following line is a problem:
'rtn = OCR1.GetField(OCR_Options, ptrBSTR, OCR_FieldParams)' and probably something about 'ptrBSTR'.
I'm interesting in zone OCR, recognizing names, numbers, date at specific rect on paper. Can that be done with PDF-X OCR SDK ???
thanks in advance
Tomislav Tadin
p.s. sorry if my English is bad
p.s.s. clarion 6.3 & c8.0, xp+sp3

Re: Clarion ocr example problem
Hi Tomislav:
Zonal OCR can certainly be done with the OCR SDK. You can create, save, and load templates for PDF pages (or files) and use them to retrieve zonal information.
However, I will have to notify our Clarion experts of your question here regarding the Clarion wrapper, you will get a response as soon as possible.

Re: Clarion ocr example problem
I would also like to point out that we have a template designer, although it is included as C++ code and a compiled executable in the main SDK distribution. I am unsure of its status in the clarion distribution; if you cannot find it please ask and we will be sure to provide it to you.
I have brought your post to the attention of the Clarion people and will await their response.

Hi Tomislav!
I have your problem and am looking at it now.
I've asked Walter to post the name of the compiled template generator to this thread.
I'll post my answer here as soon as I have it.

Re: Clarion ocr example problem
I've attached a compiled (Win32) executable for the template designer sample project. You can use this to create template files for OCR.
You must place ocrtools.dll and pxcview.dll (32-bit) in the executable directory.

Re: Clarion ocr example problem
Hi Tomislav!
I have a bit of a problem with this, and it''s going to need some additional time to fix. Since this is a major problem, and there are a couple of items in the support queue ahead of you, I should get them out first, and work on yours over the weekend.
I should have this fixed by early next week. I'll post Monday, at least to give you an update.

Hi Tomislav!
I've been working on a prior project and I haven't had the time to really get into this yet, except to verify that yu do have a problem.
I'll finish this other thing in a couple of hours, and I should get into your problem this afternoon.

Hi!
I've identified the problem as being in the BSTRING handling, and correcting now.

Re: Clarion ocr example problem
Hi Tomislav!
I finished the code changes, but while tesing them, I ran into a really odd bug that seems to be changing a class instance's address in the interval between two contiguous lines of Clarion code. Naturally this is causing an Access Violation.
Not sure what's happening to cause that. Posting messages in NG.

Hi Tomislav!
I'm having to recode parts of the class files to fix this, so delayed a few days.

Hi Tomislav!
IT'S UP! The recoded OCR class and templates were uploaded yesterday, but we have to make sure that all the mirror copies have also been updated.
You can download it now from the Downloads page, Developer tab.
Please let me know if any further problems develop.
