How can I handle Events with PDFXChange?

Post by hjerteblod » Thu May 07, 2020 3:22 pm

Hi,
maybe this is quite a beginner question, but still I can't get any further without a little help.

I would like to use the sample code from this page: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=26320&p=138538&hil ... de#p138538

So that means I would like to refer to the event
e_docSelection_changed
The problem, however, is that I have nowhere to find an example that explains how events are handled.

I mean, as a VB.NET developer, you're used to doing events like this:

Code: Select all

Private Sub ButtonClick (sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles Button.Click
And I'm currently trying the same thing with the event
e_docSelection_changed
If I also have the opportunity to combine this event with a mouse-up and a DoubleClick event, that would be a nice thing.

I hope you can help.
Stay healthy.

Hello hjerteblod,

When you add the Editor Control to your project, you can specify it's OnEvent method for handling. There all of these events are being handled (note that it should be previously registered for handling as well). Also, you should check the FullDemo application - there are many samples covered there.

Cheers,
Alex

Thank you, Sasha!
The FullDemo was helpful.

Nevertheless, I would like to give your team a little criticism.
Your products work great and we are overall very satisfied. But what both me and my team often have problems with is your documentation or your functional descriptions on your wiki about the SDK. There is usually not enough information available there.

For example, I have now implemented the e.docSelection.changed event. The event is documented here: https://sdkhelp.tracker-software.com/vi ... on_changed

What I lack in the documentation, for example, is information such as:
The pEvent.ID, which is triggered by the event.
Such a list of EventIDs, for example, can be found in vain in the entire documentation.

Otherwise, simple snippets would be a nice thing to contribute to understanding.
