PDF XChange Office Addin & normal.dot

Hi!

We have a problem with the Office Addin (Word) of PDF XChange PRO 4.0 (4.0187).
If the addin is activated, the personal menues are empty and the normal.dot file is changed.
If the addin is deactivated, everything works fine. (You have to restore the normal.dot first.)

In our company we use Office 2003 at Windows XP SP3 clients.

Our Add-in is not modifying the normal.dot file in any way.
Can you please check whether when you have the office add-in enabled can you see "PXCOfficeAddin4Toolbar.dot" in "Templates and Add-ins"
(this can be reached through the "Tools -> Templates and Add-ins" menu).

Hello Stefan,

I can,t find any "PXCOfficeAddin4Toolbar.dot".
I only have the PDF-XChange 4.0 toolbar. (The toolbar with the three icons: "Convert Document to PDF", etc.)
When this toolbar is enabled, the size of our normal.dot is shrinked from 598kb to 537kb, after closing Word 2003.

Hello David,

Please try to uninstall, restart and reinstall PDF XChange - and make sure that all Office Applications are stopped both during the uninstall and the consecutive fresh installation - to ensure everything is registered and set up correctly.

Hello Stefan,

I installed Office 2003 Professional (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) on a Windows 7 64bit notebook. After a restart i downloaded PDF-XChange PRO MSI-Installer 64bit. I installed the MSI-Package (with all components) and restarted again. Now i added a customized menu at the commandbar (File, Edit, View, etc.) and added some commands like Save, Save As, New File, etc.

All worked fine, but after restarting word the menu was gone. Can you pls check if you can reproduce this problem?

It looks like some problem with MSI installer.
Can you please try to reinstall PDF-XChange using exe installer and report back if problem still occurs.

Hi Corwin,

I reinstalled PDF Xchange with the exe installer and everything worked fine.
If you install the msi package, the PXCOfficeAddin4Toolbar.dot is missing.
If you don't have this file in the PDF Xchange program directory the problem occurs.
