Internet Explorer Addin creates full rasterized output?

PDF-XChange Pro 5.273.0, Internet Explorer 10, Win 7 x64
PDF-XChange 5.0.0273.0000 (Windows) / PDF-XChange 5.0 Web converter

If I use the addin, it creates a full rasterized PDF-output - also for standard fonts ...
Bug or feature?

Hi Peter,

Can you please go and under Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced check whether the first entry in the list "Use Software rendering instead of GPU rendering" is on or off and try switching it?

Stefan

Hi Stefan

it was switched OFF; I set it to ON, rebooted, controlled, printed - same result.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for testing. And does File -> Print end up with the same result?

Stefan

No, "print" creates good results under both settings.

Thanks Peter,

I've asked one of our office add-in experts to take a look.

I do not have that plug-in, but sometimes the fact of printing rasterized or not, depends on the dpi settings.

Are these values identical when printing via File > Print and printing via the plug-in (f.ex. 300 or 600 dpi) ?

If I understand it correctly, switching between "Software rendering" and "GPU rendering" does not result in any difference.

But, what I am talking about is the Dots Per Inch (DPI) setting ...
I do not know if this can be set... If not, then I am talking besides the question...

Regards.

Hi Willy, Peter,

I just had a conversation with our IE add-in expert and he told me that unfortunately in some cases IE is indeed rasterizing all the information before we can convert it to PDF, and there isn't much we could do.
It's worth trying the different DPI options as Willy suggested though!

We are going to completely rewrite the Web converter tool using a webkit engine that will allow us to always generate normal vector PDF files, but this is a longer term project and for now I can't say when exactly this can be implemented.

Stefan
