Problem: Office AddIn does not work

Hello,
we are using Windows 7, Office 2003 and PDF XChange 4.0.211. Now a problem occurred. I do not know what is the reason.
Description:
Function: Convert Document to PDF (Office Toolbar)
after clicking the button for a second a print-dialog is shown (see attachement print.jpg)
for a second the default printer changes.
But nothing else happens.
No PDF is generated.

Are there security settings wrong?
The advances options are:
Prompt for File Name: True
Run Default Application for PDF Files After Conversion

What can I do to correct the problem?

Hi xcv,

can you look in the Task Manager and tell me if PDFSaver4.exe is launched at all? If you start PDFSaver from the Start menu there is an option in the settings to switch off AutoUnload. Can you do that and get back to us with the results please.

Hi Paul,
as you can see at the attached screenshot the process PDFSaver4.exe is started after clicking on the "convert to PDF"-Button. After a view seconds the process disapears from the task manager an no Save-Dialog ist showen.

we are aware of an issue with PDFSaver4 from this thread: https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... 41&t=17758 I believe this is the same issue. It is being investigated and we hope to have a fix next build which should be within the next 2 weeks.

Hi,
I did some tests with the new build 212. The bug is still there and the save-dialog does not open. I tested on Windows 7 32 bit with Office 2003 and on another Windows 7 32 bit with Office 2010
I uninstalled PDF-XChange 4.0, restarted the System, installed PDF XChange 4.0 212 und restarted again. The Error is still there
On another thread Willy Van Nuffel wrote, that PDF-XChange 4.0 (build 198) is the last version without this bug. Can you tell me where I can download this version.? I want to install this older version in our company until you can fix the bug.

can you tell me where I can download PDF-XChange 4.0 (build 198)? The bug #1912 is a major Problem to us and I want to install the older Version. So our users can still use PDF XChange which is not possible with version 211 and 212.

Hi, I'm also still waiting for some news from Tracker Software.

Something interesting I discovered this week, is a Windows 7 Registry parameter that plays a role in windows or dialogboxes to "get the focus" (found this via Internet):

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"ForegroundLockTimeout"=dword:00030d40

When you change this value to "00000000" and after that you restart the pc, the PDF-XChange 4.0 (build 212) add-ins for Excel 2010 en Word 2010 are functioning correctly. I'm not aware wether changing this parameter has an influence (positif or negatif) on other things. So, check this is out with care. But, it is a interesting path for Tracker Software to continue their efforts to find a solution.

In the meantime, can you please provide a downloadable version of the build 198 or 199 for your clients that still struggle with the add-ins ? Thanks.
