Problem with transparancy

Hi,

when I convert a Office document whith an embedded png-graphic with transparent backround, the converted PDF file looks correctly in print preview, but has a black backround instead of the transparency when printing the file. When I use Office 2007- or Adobe to convert the printout is correctly.

I have attached a sample file and the original PNG-file

Best regards,
MFd

Hello MFd,

I see that you used build 195 of our products to create this sample file.
Please download and install the latest build:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product/downloads
And let us know if the problem persists.

Best,
Stefan

Thanks for trying with the latest version MFdCDrMA,

Could you please also provide us with a copy of the file created with e.g. Adobe's distiller for comparison?

And does selecting "Print as image" inside the Viewer's print dialogue help with the output - as it seems you didn't mention that in your previous post?

Best,
Stefan

Hello,

"Printing as Image" does not produce the black backgound, but this is not a good way because of the loss of quality.

The attached file was produced with Amyuni PDF Konverter 2.1. It does not have the "black box"

When I print the file converted with PDF-XChange on an old PCL5 driver, ist also looks fine.

I have tested with several drivers / Printers --> Result:
Kyocera KM-C25E (KPDL) / Kyocera KM-C2525E --> black
HP Universial Printing PS (V5.3) / HP Laserjet CP3525 dn --> black
Lexmark Universial PS 3 / Lexmark X945c-- > grey
Lexmark Universal XL / Lexmark X945c --> grey

Windows XP/Office 2003 -- Windows XP/Office 2007
Windows 7/Office 2003 -- Windows 7/Office 2007

Best regards
MFd

Thanks MFd,

The second file prints correctly - because the converter you used actually made the image not transparent - and the one our drivers created is still properly transparent. See the attached image.

I am afraid that for now we can not offer any better solution than the "Print as images" - and if you change your printers settings to print images with 300 or 600 DPI - the quality loss should not be too visible.

We are working on a totally different printing routines for v3 of the Viewer - and then "print as images" should no longer be needed - but this new version will be released on 31 May 2012.

Best,
Stefan
