Error: PDF Structure 35

Post by SteveLikesPie » Wed Oct 14, 2015 1:26 pm

Hi,

I have a user in our organization who frequently runs into a problem. When combining PDF's from a specific source in PDF Tools 4, she gets the following error:

"Error: [PDF Structure 35] Required property is not set"

I know the problem is specific to these PDFs, as documents from other sources don't have this issue. These PDFs will open up in PDF-Xchange Editor and Viewer. Since we have no control over the source of the PDFs, is there a work around to get PDF Tools to merge them?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the post - this message means that the documents are damaged. PDF-Tools does not have a particularly complex correction algorithm (if it has one at all), but the Viewer and Editor both do and so can account for the damage. I would recommend re-saving the documents with the Editor or Viewer, then merging the documents. This should correct the damage.

Cheers,

Hi Will,

Thanks for the quick response.

What you have suggested is what we have been doing as a work around. It's just a laborious and time consuming process when there are hundreds of PDFs that need to be opened and saved. Is there a way to do this as a batch process?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

The PDF Tools is in the process of an overhaul, and once we are done with that - it will use the same core libraries as the Editor currently does - so the same error corrections will be available in both. We do not have a release date of PDF Tools V5 yet, but are workign on it and will have it out as soon as possible.

Regards,
Stefan
