unattended uninstallation of Docu-Tracker PDF-XChange 4 Pro

Post by bastilon »

Hi Board Members,

we are deploying our software using Microsoft SCCM and I've created a package for unattended installation of Docu-Tracker PDF-XChange 4 Pro.
Used syntax: PDFX4_wV.exe /NORESTART /VERYSILENT /Key:"xxxx" /UserName:"Username" /Organization:"Organization" /UserEmail:"e@mail.com" /NODESKICON /LOG c:\PDFXChange4Pro.txt

How can I unattended uninstall this package? There is a syntax like PDFX4_wV.exe /FORCERESTART /VERYSILENT /UNINSTALL or something like that available?
All other unattended possibilities are very welcome as well.

Thanks in advance.

Please see the help file/manual provided - this is all detailed in the section 'Silent Installation'

page : 12 of PDFX4Man.pdf
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

thanks for the fast reply, but there I only can see the Silent installation parameters and the unattended installation works perfect.
But my problem or my goal is to uninstall the Pro version unattended.

So I would really appreciate to know how I can do that.

Hi,

apologies - I missed the 'uninstall' portion of your request.

to uninstall you would need to call the file : unins000.exe
This is usually in the same location as your main install and you can use the /VERYSILENT option - a restart will occur unless you also use /NORESTART in your command line.

Hope that helps

How do you handle the case where you want to uninstall only a custom PDF-XChange driver.

For example, assume a computer already has the print driver "PDF-XChange 4.0" listed. I then run the PDFX4SA_sm.exe installer but use "PDF-XChange for FileCenter" as the PName because this relates to my application. Now I have both print drivers listed.

When I run the unins000.exe associated with my driver, the "PDF-XChange for FileCenter" install, the uninstall removes both of my listed drivers. I only wanted the "PDF-XChange for FileCenter" item removed.

How can I get around this, because the original "PDF-XChange 4.0" driver may already be there on account of another application purchased by the user. I don't want to remove it when I unistall my application.

Hi Jeff,

I am afraid thats an issue at the moment - uninstall will remove both - better to simply delete if the driver already existed - so you will perhaps have to save this status in some sort of .ini or .txt file on installation - Version 5 will modify this issue.

That's fine. Are there some API that allow me to remove a driver from the list of drivers? Also, shouldn't I clean up the registry keys associated with my driver as well? Where are they located.

Hi Jepp,

If you are asking about some API we can offer - then the answer is no.
As for any third party tools that can do that - I am not aware - so will speak with the other guys in the team and try to get you an answer soon.

Best,
Stefan
