PDF-Xchange 4 and also 3.60 problems under vista

hello,

experiencing a lot of problems with either the new and the old version under windows vista 64-bit. nevertheless all runs well under vista 32-bit.

in version 4 the print properties window doesn't show all entries. they are simply blank. and after clicking through them (watermark, page size and so on) the programm quits with a failure message in explorer.exe. the instruction in 0x8006e7ac refers to memory 0x00000000. click ok to end program.

in version 3.60.0129 (earlier version strangely do work) a failure after printing a document pops up. this time the failure is in pdfsaver3.exe. the instruction in 0x4002c02c refers to memory 0x00000008. click ok to end program.

would be great to get a response or contact info for german support.

Hi,

I am sorry to say at the moment we are totally bemused by the issue - we have no other users reporting such problems (and there many many 1,000's - probably considerabley more, using our V3 x64 driver without issue)

We cannot reproduce and the fact you have issues with both the V3 and V4 releases suggests - possibly - that the issue is local to yourself.

Have you tried any other Virtual print drivers with success or otherwise ?

hello,

as I said before, the version 3.60 build 0108 runs without any problems or errors on my 64-bit vista.

as you could see in the error report drvui40.dll is causing the problem and it doesn't seem to be dependent on my system.

i installed pdf-xchange on a clean windows 64-bit installation without any programs installed or running in the background and the problem still persists.

i have used scansoft pdf create without any problems so far. but it doesn't produce so fast and so small pdf files from technical drawings.

hope you will find a solution.

hi ivan,

unfortunately there are still errors, but i can read the properties dialog box with the adjustments correctly now.

i still get an error message with pdfsaver4.exe (siehe attached zipped picture)
(using 64-bit vista and printing from autocad)

btw: how can i save respectively backup my custom forms.

hi,
here is the tmp file, but there is no xml file.

btw: the file PDFSaverTweak.zip mentioned in the post is gone.

and there is no option to save the tmp files in the pdfsaver dialog. it saves the files automatically i suppose.

Problem reproduced and trouble is because MS C++ compiler generate wrong code for x64 in some cases. For now we are looking for workarround and waiting for feedback from microsoft.

It is because it was compiled with older C++ compiler.
Now we had found workarround and into the next build the problem will be solved.

i have another question which is:
where is the information for the custom forms stored?

since using different cad layouts there will be a lot of forms after some time . unfortunately they will be lost when restoring the whole system from time to time.

new version is working fine now, but ...

my registration info obviously doesn't unlock the version, since i can see the pdf-xchange watermarks in the corners of the generated pdf.

am i doing something wrong?

Hi Simon,

assuming you are trying to use a V3 serial number - this will not work in Version 4 - we are just trying to resolve a technical issue so that all V3 users wll be able to Register/log into our Web site and access the V3 -> V4 upgrade options automatically.

As soon as this is resolved - we will notify all licensed clients who have pruchased directly through us and those who have already registered at our site etc.
