Print preview without saving document

Post by Rancho »

I hope this is the right place to post this.

I just purchased the Pro package and am trying to duplicate my old work flow. I've used PDFactory as my print driver for years and it allowed me to preview, then copy (^a ^c), and paste (^p) into a ongoing email conversation. It didn't clutter my disk with needless pdf's (don't need them as I have the source already and a pdf copy in the email = 2 copies). My old process was:
1. Print from app (normally Quickbooks) https://speedtest.vet/ https://vidmate.bid/
- print app VIEWER would pop up where I could make simple modifications like delete a page. This allowed me to also confirm that I was printing the correct invoice/quote for the right customer.
2. select all/copy (^a ^c), esc (close window)
3. alt-tab to existing email conversation, paste (^p)
Done.

What I have so far in PDF-X:
Print Settings/Save:
Save Generated PDF File (to Desktop/PDF Jobs)
Strip Path, Auto Num (doesn't really matter)
Run App After Printing/Default App for PDF (PDF-X)

This allows me to see a preview via PDF-X, but I still have to open the file in Desktop/PDF Jobs and drag (or copy/paste) to my email. I tried to just select all, or copy from the Editor but no-go. I tried to drag the tab into my email -- no-go. Is there a way I can just take the Previewed doc and drag it right into my email without the intermediate file creation? What I have working now is alright but it's another step from what I've done for years.

Using Generate, Email, Delete, or Create Doc as Email Attachment doesn't solve my problem as they both create an intermediate doc and neither fires up a previewer. I typically do NOT want to create a new email; usually I just need to plug a pdf into an ongoing email conversation, so cut/paste or drag is the only solution (I think).

Any recommendations? Thanks,
Rancho.

Hi, Rancho

Unfortunately no, our standard printer must save the files being processed before they can be viewed. Perhaps this will change in the future, but I cannot say for certain at the moment.
