Displaying printing progress window (on by default) makes printing 3 or more times slower

Post by asocialis »

First noticed this when I tried first time turning off printing progress window in pdf saver lite options.
First on wikipedia. At first it was not so obvious, but with larger pages I noticed larger waiting time.
Then tried it on various websites. It exists regardless of website and probably of program used.
Tried counting to verify it and really noticed when page takes 1 seconds without window it takes 3 seconds with window.
Repeated it many times. I am sure. More easily to observe with larger websites of course.
It probably means that if it takes 1 minute without window, it would take 3 minutes or more with window.
Time wasted just on displaying that window.
To be specific, it is time delay that appears after Firefox printing progress disappears and until save dialog of pdfsaver appears.
In the best (fastest) case there is double time than without window.
Of course, while this may not be noticable on fast printing documents it may be nuisance for larger web pages or documents.

First time I noticed this was yesterday, then I said "what is this, previously I had to wait 10 seconds, now only 3 seconds, it is probably that window that I turned off"! And today I keep noticing it more and more. No doubt.
