Bug in Save dialog

Post by Ovg »

Is here a way to make my settings became default settings in Save dialog?
Every time I have either to choose another profile or enter settings manually.

And I've found a bug - Path is doubled:

Hi OVG,
While the default profile will not take these changes in my tests, you can save them to a custom profile, then you just need to ensure you have that profile selected.

As for the bug, thanks! reported to devs!

Hi, Daniel!

Unfortunately it doesn't work this way - after each printing settings are resets to Default profile and
I had to open Save dialog and choose another profile again and again.

Hello Ovg,

Could you tell me if you have upgraded an old version to 7.0.325 or installed it clean?

Also, could you please tell me from which software do you try to print using the Standard drivers.

Regards.

Hello Dimitar!

I've done a clean install. It doesn't matter from which application I'm trying printing: FireFox, Ultraedit, Notepad, Biamp Audia, ....
When printing from Firefox I have to choose another profile every time, from other programs - I have to choose another profile after starting program.
All subsequent prints from that program working fine until program restart.

Hello Ovg,

Looks like something is blocking the change in the registry.
Could you please tell what kind of security software do you have, and is there a some system cleaning software installed on your computer like CCleaner or similar?

Regards.

Hello Dimitar!

I don't use any security software or registry cleaner. My A/V - MSE.
Which key should be modified? I can check this.

I am unsure which Registry keys Dimitar is referring to, so I will leave that point for him.

I am curious though, as to my knowledge the profile is used on a per-session basis. Meaning that most programs will be recognized as a single session and use the same profile until closing. If I'm not mistaken Firefox treats each tab as a separate Session or instance. Can you tell me if it remembers the profile between prints on the same tab?

Hi Arnold,

If you are going to be consistently using that profile across all applications, you could set it as the default profile.
Ive been looking for a GUI method to do this, but apparently it is currently only possible from the command line.
This KB may help, https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowle ... ser-system
And the V7 Manual details the switches for RunDll32 here: https://help.pdf-xchange.com/pdfxs ... les_s.html

Hope this helps!

Hello Daniel!

Thank you for suggestion. Perhaps I do something wrong - it doesn't work for me:

Hello ovg,
After consulting with the dev team, It seems we've overlooked a portion of the article.
long story short, for your use (or mine as well for testing this) you need to delete some registry entries under currentuser, to force the printer to look at the machine settings instead of the user settings.

Close out active instances of programs you'll be printing from first, then,
Youll need to remove any related PDF-XChange printers binaries from both of these locations
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModePerUser
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModes2
In hind sight these are probably the Reg keys Dimitar was talking about...

There is also a rundll32 option for profiles:

rundll32 "C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange 7\DrvUI7.dll",DUI30_Command [/InstallProfile:"<fullpathtoprofile>" | /SetDefProfile:"<profile_name>"] [/PrinterName:"PDF-XChange Standard V7"] [/AsDefault] [/ForUser]
I've installed PDF-XChange Standard with default options.

Install path: C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange (Not PDF-XChange 7)
Dll Name: drvui.x64.dll and drvui.x86.dll (not drvui7.dll at all)
Printer Name: PDF-XChange Standard (Not PDF-XChange Standard V7)

I think that it might be a problem for basic user.
It would be nice to correct Help text on this matter.
