Print to PDF-XChange Lite printer crashing Outlook 2016

Post by libove »

On a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit system, trying to print from Outlook 2016 to the PDF-XChange Lite printer (that is, open an email item in Outlook, select Print, and try to choose the PDF-XChange Lite printer) instantly and reliably crashes Outlook.
I can print to the PDF-XChange Lite printer from another program (Notepad).
This occurred with whatever latest V6 of PDF-XChange I'd had installed, and now just after updating to V7 of PDF-XChange it continues to happen.
Installed software:
PDF-XChange Editor V7.0 build 323.2 (Dec 20 2017; 15:37:43)
Outlook, Office Professional Plus 2016, Version 1711(Build 8730.2165 Click-to-Run) [Monthly channel]

Interestingly, when I try to see the printer properties for the PDF-XChange Lite printer, I get "C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." (But, as noted above, I CAN print to this printer from Notepad).

ideas?

thank you,

Hi libove,

That's very unusual and we've not seen any other reports, to the best of my knowledge, but I'm glad the reboot fixed it. For now, we'll treat it as a strange one-off, but should it start happening again then please do let us know!

Cheers,
