Interesting font "effects"...

Tue May 02, 2017 9:45 am

I'm not sure if the following rendering issue is the fault of PDF XChange or the XChange Viewer, but let's start with the result:
Sample.zip
(30.7 KiB) Downloaded 22 times

I am using WinWord to create a test for my students (that's why I can't post it here) and made a PDF file using PDF XChange and show it with PDF XChange Viewer (which is still the best PDF viewer)...
...and all characters with bold font are displayed with a dashed outlining. I tried to change different things in the printer driver but failed (so I had around 15 versions with funny fonts) but now I was able to create a version which looks fine. For me it looks like the dashed arc may be responsible for the weard results, but wo knows.

Maybe the enclosed files help to find the reason for this behaviour.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the post and samples - I've tested both the Editor and Viewer and don't see the problem in the Editor, so it appears that this is an issue with the Viewer. The Viewer has been discountinued for quite some time now, so please download and try the Editor:

Thanks Will,

I have licensed the Editor an use it for editing, but the old viewer is so cute (e.g. small and fast), so it's still my standard product to view PDFs...

Cheers,
Michael

Hi Michael,

I'm afraid that the Viewer is no longer being actively developed, so you will need to use the Editor when working with these files.
