PDF xChange V5 - Settings Not Saving

Hello,

I have an XP machine I am trying to install with PDF xChange, the OS is fully up to date. Basically i install the software and this goes perfectly, I restart the machine then I go to the properties, change the document name it wants to save, then try and open it with an application and I run into two problems;

1. I cannot choose an application
2. Changing the path or document name, does not seem to apply to the PC.

This PC is part of the domain and has had v5 on before, but was completely wiped and I installed the latest. When I click print it uses default settings and I have 0 idea where it is pulling these default settings from. As the registry is completely different when I browse to the V5 driver location. Also, why within the XP environment can I not choose an application to open with, but Windows 7 and 8 is fine?

Are you making those changes via Start -> Devices and printers ->
Or though another application?

If you make the change through the Devices and printers dialogue - this should be set as the default for all other applications after that.

Start > Devices and Printers > Choose PDF-xChange

The settings do save to the printer, but going into print using word or excel just pulls up the file and save screen when I have specifically unticked this..

Are you using the File -> Print option in Word/Excel or the add-in our drivers install? (as the add-in stores it's settings separately).

Sorry about the wait.

Using print within Word/Excel, we use the lite driver so the addins are not installed.

Thanks - can you try to make the settings changes from inside Word - once the print preview screen shows - hit the "Printer Properties" button and try changing it from there?

Tried that and the box is still coming up asking me to file and save, which is wrong as I have un ticked this box.

Thanks for the post - can you tell me the build of PDF-XChange Lite that you're using? If you're not sure where to find this, you can go to Control Panel --> Devices and Printers --> Right click Lite Printer --> Printing Preferences --> About.
