Type 1 Font embedding fails

The embedding of Type1 and OpenType (Postscript Flavoured) Fonts does not work.

All tests are done with the free font Exo-Regular.otf (http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/exo) for easy reproducing, but the error is the same for type1 fonts.

The font section of PDF XChange Printer 2012 5.0 build 273.2 has the following settings:

Code: Select all

Embed All Used Fonts: off
Force Embed Protected Fonts: on
Embed Extended Font/Character Info: on
Embed a subset of fonts only, if ...: 100%

Always Embed Fonts: on
    Exo
   
Never Embed Fonts: off

The Document is written in Word 2010 using the Exo font und printed via PDF XChange Printer.

The resulting PDF has the following "Fonts used in this Document" informations:

Code: Select all

Exo-Regular
Type: Type1
Encoding: WinAnsiEnconding
Actual Font: Exo-Regular
Actual Font Type: OTF
Object Number: 6

As you can see, the font is not embedded as requested.

If I enable "Embed All Used Fonts" or add the String "Exo-Regular" (which is not a selectable font) to "HKCU\Software\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange 5\PDF\Profiles\Current\Fonts\AlwaysEmbed\Fonts" the Exo Font got embedded.

Obviously something with the font name matching for Type1 Fonts is broken.

Will is on holidays. I can try testing this but would ask you first to try the current build of the Printer (308.2) and let me know if the issue persists.

Even though the numbers are very different this is 2 builds since 273.2. We have modified all the product version numbers to match for consistency moving forward.
