I have try to put a timeout on the PDFsaver process but it'S not working. I have the latest version install of the Standard Printer Driver. Anyone have an idea ??

thanks for the post. Can we have a little more detail here please? What exactly is locking? Are you unable to save the PDF? Is there some other symptom?

Please provide a detailed explanation of what you are seeing and how we can reproduce it here. A screen shot of any error messages would be helpful also.

After i have create a PDF i can't move it to another directory or rename it until i reboot my PC or Kill the PDFsaver Process... In the PDFSaver setting i can configure a timeout for the process but its not working. I have to kill it manually... Same problem on my 5 computer. I have download the latest version on your website...

thanks for that. Ok - are all 5 computers the same OS version?

PDFSaver shouldn't be able to keep a handle on your PDFs. Are you doing anything more than just saving the document? Like the Send my email option? The mail client could for example in that case be the one responsible. I know you say that killing PDFSaver frees up the file but we need to determine exactly what has the handle on it.

You can use Process Explorer from Microsoft to do this. See here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/sysi ... 96653.aspx

Please use that and report here what the results are. Let us know if you need help using Process Explorer.

No i'm just saving PDF, no email sending...

Yes Same OS Windows 7 64 bits


Stefan Dzhukelov have start this case with me but he don't reply to my last mail until 2 weeks...

There will be something different between the PC's you have the problem with and the ones you do not - maybe its the user access rights or the location saved to - but something will be different.

Also - if any email has been received here to support@ - by any staff member a record is kept and will be answered - no email is ignored by any staff member so respectfully if you have not received a reply to any email sent in 2 weeks - then the reality is it has not been received.

Please provide the information requested by Paul in his message as we cannot proceed further until that is received;

I have the problem with all the PC, same thing in my personal PC. I have try many location, local on PC or on network drive, same problem. To move FIle or Folder i have to kill the PDFSaver process.

Thanks! Can you please add the file at the full resolution - this one is not clear enough for us to read. Also please follow the advice from Paul's Friday e-mail:
With Process Explorer running go to Find --> Find Handle or DLL --> Enter file name --> Search for the file you suspect is blocked, and then provide us with a screenshot of the result of that search.

Paul is not in the office today, so he would be able to review the results of that when he returns tomorrow.

Thanks for sending that - from the screen-shot, I can see that the pdfSaver5.exe does indeed have a handle on the file. To reproduce this, could you tell what 'flavour' of Windows 7 you are using? (i.e. Windows 7 Home Premium)

Windows 7 Professionnal 64 bits but samething on 32 bits edition...

Thanks for that - I'm going to setup a VM to test this, as I can't reproduce the problem on my Windows 8 machine. This isn't a quick process and it may be that I'm not able to get back to you until tomorrow. I'll post back as soon as I know more.

thanks so much for the screen shot, that is a nice resolution and easily read.

Unfortunately you did a search to see what has a handle on pdfSaver5.exe which is essentially just itself. What we need is for you do enter the filename of the PDF that we think is locked into that search window and see what has a handle on that...

Process Explorer --> Find --> Fild Handle or DLL --> Handle or Substring ..> [name of PDF that is locked]

that is exactly what we need. Now I need to consult with the developers to find out what we need to do next as this should not be happening (obviously). Blame the season, but we have some illness going around and the developer best suited for this is not in today. I'll make sure to touch base with him as soon as he back on his feet.
