PDF-XChange Lite 4.0.203
PDF-XChange Lite 2012 / 5.0.262
I installed PDF-XChange Lite 2012 (V5) on my PC. There is still a separate installation of PDF-XChange Lite V4 on the same PC.
The installation went fine, but unfortunately printing with V5 does not work for me. Printouts of Tracker's homepage with V4 and V5 are attached. There are just images (plus page header and footer) on the V5 printout while the V4 printout is fine. All other text is missing in V5. I made no changes to the standard settings in the V5 driver menu.

thanks for the post. What browser are you printing that from? Does this only happen when printing from that browser or can you reproduce it also from other applications?

I'm using Firefox 13.0.1 as a browser. The problem appears to be present on all web pages that I am printing with driver version V5.
However, printing with V5 is OK when I am using other browsers (such as IE 8 or Opera 12.0).

thanks for that. One more question. Can you print those same document then to a physical printer?
I just upgraded my Firefox to 13.0.1 and the first page I printed did include all the text.
Sometimes the default setting in Firefox to use hardware acceleration can cause issues. Can you test printing with this turned off please?

I did as you requested and turned off the hardware acceleration in Firefox, then restarted the browser.
There is still no text (except page header/footer) in pdf files that are generated with XChange driver V5. Printing those documents on a physical printer is possible, but the hardcopy does not show any text also, just images.
Printer driver version V4 is working fine. There is also no problem printing directy from Firefox (no pdf file created) to the physical printer.
Maybe I should mention that I'm using the free version of PDF-XChange Lite 2012 V5 for home users, but probably the driver itself is identical with the commercial version.

let me get this straight, using the same version of Firefox you cannot print with the text to your physical printer or PDF-XChange Lite 2012 but you can to PDF-XChange Lite 4?

- creating pdf files with XChange print driver V4 is OK (all text visible in pdf document), printing this pdf file on paper is also OK,

OK then it is specific to the V5 Lite.
Can I ask you to test printing from that machine using this PDF-XChange Standard printer? Don't worry about that fact that it will put water marks on the output, that is because you would be using it in 'Trial' mode. This version functions a little differently 'under the hood' and I'm keen to know if this works.

Output is OK with the new "standard" driver while there is a problem with the V5 Lite driver. Printouts are attached. I think there is also a slight difference in the page headers/footers.
PDF XChange V5 Lite 2012 has a "Settings" control panel which is not present in both the V4 Lite driver and the new standard driver. I wonder whether all the settings, in particular the "fonts" settings, are correct (see attachment). I just used the default settings and did not make any changes.

there is a difference in the engine used between Lite and Standard. Lite now employs using Windows XPS print engine as an intermediate process to creating the files (V4 and the standard printer use the Windows GDI for this purpose). We would like to take a look at the temp files created when you see this issue. If you go to the PDFSaver 5 Lite settings and check the box "Don't remove temporary files" it will save these in your Windows system or user temp folder.
Can you please ZIP and send us those files for investigation please.

Hello Paul,
I saved the temporary files and just sent them to support by e-mail. There is a file such as pxp74.tmp in the C:\windows\temp\ folder that is created when I'm using the print driver. I think this is the file you mean.

our dev team have found the cause of this and made corrections to fix it. This fix will be available in the next build, though I don't have a date for that yet.
