OCR deployment with the AX Viewer

Post by Tony York » Wed Jul 16, 2014 12:59 am

Hi,

I have an app that uses the AX viewer and I have populated the toolbar of the viewer with an OCR button.

The OCR window opens up just fine, but it does not display a default language. (or any others for that matter)

Checking on some other forum posts, I thought I might have to add a sub folder called ocrdats and include in that folder the two files eng_pxvocr.dat and eng.lng

This does not seem to have solved it, so what must I distribute to make this work.

Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony!

I asked our Project Manager where \ocrdats needs to be.

He replied:
ocrdats should be in the folder where the registered PDFXCview.exe is located.
If there is both end user and developers instances of the Viewer, and the developer does not use ClickOnce (ActiveX without registration - RegFree in other words), the last registered instance will be used.
If ClickOnce is used - developers instance of .exe will be used‏
We have been trying to get the Viewer ActiveX to use RegFree but haven't succeeded yet.

What do they mean by the registered location? I have my app, and I also have the end user viewer and editors as well? My app does not show the languages but the editor does.

Hi Tony!

When PDFXCview.exe is installed in a folder, and then registered (see PDFV_AX.pdf, Part I, topic 2 ActiveX Control Installation for how that works) then the folder where PDFXCview.exe resides must contain the \ocrdats folder and its language files.

Hi Craig,

It still does not work. I will have to wait until I am ready to make an install file and see how I go when it runs the bat file through there.

Will talk soon if still an issue.

See ya

Tony
