Win 7 Pro 64bit - distribution question

I have installed my application onto a Win7 Pro 64bit machine. I ran the RegVwrAX.bat file, but the control did not appear on the screen of my application when I accessed it.

The docs say "Please note there are both 32 and 64 bit versions of the PDF-XChange and you should accommodate both in your distribution – please see the appropriate SDK folder to locate the 32/64 bit versions provided."

I cannot find anything about a 64bit version. Where do I look, and is it relevant in my case.

Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony!

It's simple, really. There is now a separate Distribution Installer that handles installing in both 32 and 64-bit systems.

Go to the Developer download page for PDF-XChange Viewer ActiveX SDK at:

http://www.tracker-software.com/product ... ctivex-sdk

This is the download page for JUST the generic version of the Viewer ActiveX.

The second radio button by the Download button is labelled Dev Distribution Installer (32/64 bit) | 14 MB. Select this, click the Download button, and Save the download file - it's an EXE that handles installing the ActiveX components on any system, 32 or 64 bit. Distribute this as part of your installation. If you are using SetpBuilder from Friedrich Linder, he allows including and running EXE files from within an installation.

Hi Craig,

I don't know if this is a case of oop's, but when I run the exe inside the zip file, it installed the actual viewer, not the distribution stuff (as I would expect it).

I installed the viewer (just in case), but the activeX control is still not visible in my app.

Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony!

What is the name of the file you downloaded? It sounds like a mislink.

Hi Tony!

That's the correct file name. If you see an EXE, it is actually the ActiveX, and exports the ActiveX ADO interface. It SHOULD have installed the ActiverX by calling RegSvr32.exe.

You are not seein gthe ActiveX AT ALL, or are you getting demo watermarks?

No active X at all.

I have attached a couple of the screen shots of the install of the extracted file.

See ya

Hi Tony!

I'm going to pass this up to the developers who handle the Viewer ActiveX and see what's what.

Hi Craig,

Have you heard back from the dev team yet?

Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony!

Our Project Manager responded: "Looks like it is an issue in the installer - it should register AX control, but it doesn't. We will fix it asap."

Hi Tony!

Please try the current version of the installer from our Website.

N.B. PDFXCview.exe is part of the ActiveX install, as well as PDFXCviewAx.dll and Resource.dat. Additional "helper" files may be installed as well, which is why you should use the latest "dev installer" version.
