Emergency Question !! about error code OX80004005

Post by Kwon Eok » Tue Feb 12, 2008 6:46 am

1. Run execution file in sample source “c:\Program Files\Tracker Software\Raster-XChangeSDK\Examples\VC++\1”.
2. Input “d:\sample.xps“ for Source filename.
3. Put down [print Now!] button after input “d:\sample.tif” for Destination filename.

And then, error code was printed like below.
Hr == 0x80004005
try
{
printer_->PrintDocument(m_szFileName.AllocSysString(), FALSE);
}
catch(_com_error err)
{
HRESULT hr = err.Error();

XPS is one of document formats that is not printed by Raster-XChangeSDK.
HWP is same result. This document format popularly can be used in South Korea.

Different point is below between HWP and XPS
When I click right button of mouse after I choose the file in Explorer.
Print menu does not exist in case “XPS” but exist in case “HWP”.
If I click print menu in case “HWP”, it can be printed.

I attached XPS file. Please confirm.

Hi,

this is unrelated to our products - but suggests you do not have a default application installed in Windows - registered for use with the XPS format.

Locate an XPS file in Windows Explorer and right click - set 'open with' and set an application to be used for viewing/printing/working with the XPS format and provided it is capable of doing as required to print to Raster-XChange - all should be well.

I think.. you don't understand our problem.
I describe problem again.

I purchased "TIFF-XChange 3.0 SDK".

I applied your solution to my product.

But It doesn’t work in some case (document format).
that is below.

------ below --------------

1. symptoms
Your solution can't print below document format.
It doesn't work for "*.XPS", "*.HWP".

anyway, other doc format is OK.

2. Document format
a. "*.XPS"
b. "*.HWP" : that is used popularly in Korea.

3. error messeage
a. embedded code in our product.

try
{
printer_->PrintDocument(m_szFileName.AllocSysString(), FALSE);
}
catch(_com_error err)
{
HRESULT hr = err.Error();

b. hr value is OX80004005

4. Test Environment
a. Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
b. Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate K

Please test your solution before you reply me about this problem..!!

Let me know why it doesn't work for specific document format.
Let me know what is your solution for this bug.

At this point - I dont believe this is a bug at all !

Windows must have an application regsitered that allows use of the 'PrintDocument' functionality as a generic way to print a document. It requires that an application is registered to perform "printto"(print to a specified printer) operation for the document to be printed.

If this is not possible there is no way that Raster-XChange can be used as an output method - a simple way to check.

If you locate either of the 2 formats detailed in Windows Explorer - if you right click -> Print.

Is this possible on the system in question without first opening a viewing applciation and if so please advise what applciation is used to output the files?

If you still believe this is a bug - please provide a simple application - both source and compiled - with sample files and clear instructions and we will endeavour to reproduce and advise from their.

we would also need to know what application and version specifically
is used to View and print the files as described above.

"printto" is not registered for "HWP format".

Thanks for your kind reply...
