Drawing Annotations next to another one

Post by rmcmanamy »

If someone wants to draw an annotation starting at the end of en existing one or close to another one you cannot due it because the cursor ends up selecting the existing object instead of starting the annotation where you click or using the object snap. It's almost like you need a left shift button that would tell it to always ignore selecting an existing annotation. It seams to work with lines and the left shift but not rectangles and such.

Hey Rodney,

If you hold down the Shift key you will not be selecting the existing annotation and would be able to draw the new one.
Tested with rectangles, ovals and a few of the others and they all work fine - even selecting a highlighted text works with holding down the shift key.

Cheers,
Stefan

That's what I thought but it's not working on mine. Did some more testing in the End User Version of the Viewer can't reproduce it. But in your PDFViewerActiveXTestVB.exe sample I can.

Open a File
Show the Commenting Toolbar
Select the Rectangle from the Toolbar
Draw a rectangle
Move over the rectangle and you will see the move or stretch mouse icons. Hit shift here and it works and you get the cross icon.
Now select the Rectangle Command again from the Toolbar
Now move over the existing rectangle and try the shift and it doesn't work on mine.

It's like it doesn't work until the Control gets focus again after picking the toolbar.

Hi Rodney,

Just got word from development that we will try to realize a workaround but Ivan is not sure it will be possible with the control being inside a VB form.

Best,
Stefan
