PDFs in Internet Explorer

Post by Carolin Mauser »

Hi all,

I have a problem with opening PDFs in the Internet. When doing so, PDF will be opened with Internet Explorer not with PDF-Viewer. Any ideas?

Hi Carolin,

IE opens your PDFs, because a browser plugin is installed. From your description, I can't tell you if it's PDF-XChange Viewer's plugin or another.

To disable PDF-XChange Viewer's plugin:
Open PDF-XChange Viewer,
goto Edit -> Preferences -> File Associations, uncheck "Display PDF in Browser"

For other browser plugins, there's probably also an option in the corresponding program. Or you'll have to disable the plugin in IE.

Michael

Hi Michael,

disabling the checkbox "Display PDF in Browser" helped. Thanks.
Have you any idea why?
With all others users everything works fine with this option checked.

Hello Carolin,

In general if the option is selected and turned on the plugin should be launched inside the browser.
You might have installed our Viewer only for one specific user on that machine, or there might be different settings for the other user's browsers that have disabled some/all plugins.

In Any case unchecking the tick box is working as it should - and we are glad that everything is fine for you now!

Best,
Stefan
