Why "Check for updates" is disabled in free portable version?

This is because the portable version does not include the live update software and therefore cannot support this functionality - at least for now.

It would be so great if it is possible to add such possibility to portable version (so user don't have to check web site every day

ZoNi,

The Live Updater requires some registry entries which contradicts the portable concept. The current live updater was designed for the stand alone version only and as Viktor (Lzcat) said for now it is not working with the portable version.

There are plans to redesign the updater for ver3 that might allow it to work with the portable version as well, but just not for now.
