Apologies if this has been asked before, but a forum search revealed nought.
Is there no implementation of the (more-or-less standard) auto/universal-scrolling via clicking the Middle-Mouse Button? A small feature, to be sure, but frustrating in absence.
(And thanks for the x64-specific build, nice to see companies embracing such things...)

Re: Auto/Universal Scrolling...
I can't tell you if it's new or not but it definitly works for me on Vista 64 .msi install of Build 4.15 of the Viewer supports this.

Re: Auto/Universal Scrolling...
Hmm... I'm using the latest (from the site, anyway) v.2.04105 on Vista x64, and clicking the Middle-Mouse button just ignores me; no response.
I'm a little confused... am I missing something obvious?

Re: Auto/Universal Scrolling...
I don't know - I don't need to click with the middle button /scroll wheel - a left click so that the window has focus and I can scroll using the wheel...
Did you install via the exe or msi?

Re: Auto/Universal Scrolling...
Perhaps my terminology is slightly wrong (I was under the impression it's called 'Universal' or 'Auto' scrolling). It's usually (always?) activated by pressing the middle-mouse button or wheel, and allows for scrolling (usually at variable-speeds) without having to use the wheel itself. As in Firefox, IE, Word, Outlook, etc., etc., or most any other application which displays scrollable information.
I suppose it's not often used, but I find it invaluable, and take it's presence for granted. Thus I noted it's absence.
(I installed using the .msi, as I found no link for x64 .exe)

Re: Auto/Universal Scrolling...
aaah - got you. OK - in that case - no we don't have that.
On the side, it's not actually that universal - it's only a Windows thing AFAIK - Firefox in LInux (IceWM, Gnome or KDE) does not support this, don't know about Mac.

I think it's just a semantic thing, not one of those Windows-hegemony fears. Beyond the nomenclature, it's bloody useful.paulororke wrote:it's not actually that universal
Fair, enough; consider it then a feature request instead! (It does exist in all the "other" PDF viewers out there, [Windows-based, at least], so somebody other than my own lonely voice in the void must find it valuable.)

Re: Auto/Universal Scrolling...
Adobe Reader 7.1 doesn't do it eitherl.
However, Foxit Reader 3.0 does have it, and it works very well. Having clicked once with the middle mouse button, the scroll anchor sticks wherever it was clicked, and dragging in any direction scrolls the document slowly or quickly, depending on how far away from the anchor that one drags. It does not disable zooming either — even while autoscrolling, one can use control + scroll wheel to zoom in and out.
I would certainly vote for this improvement. I have RSI from using the scrollwheel excessively.

Re: Auto/Universal Scrolling...
and despite my earlier post I must confess to also liking it. Definitly worth a feature request IMHO.
