Settings in Registry <---->Exported Settings ?

Post by mattad »

Assume I export all current settings (via "Edit" Menu) into a *.dat file.

Does this *.bat file contain all information from Registry branch

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFViewer
?
and vice versa: Does the above Registry branch contain all information from a previously exported *.dat file?

Or are there any other Registry values from other branches involved?

Hi, mattad

They are not perfectly equivalent, Settings export is generally more versatile, as it can also export files not located in the registry, such as your stamps or signatures. Beyond that, yes, application settings specifically would include the same information as a registry export, as that is precisely where we store the settings in question.

Going the other direction, as I mentioned, a settings export can contain some items not stored in the registry, including external files like stamps and signatures. In this way, a registry export would not include everything that a settings export would.
