Why are some pages are light green, while others white

Post by celk2010 »

Hi,
I have set my page background color to light green
2020-01-10_212426.png
As for some pdf files converted from word, the page background color is indeed light green
but for other pages, the page background color is still white

Take the pdf attached for example, it looks like

Is there any methods to change all pages background color to light green forcibly?
It will be much more comfortable to our eyes
Thank you!

Hello celk2010,

We place those backgrounds behind all the objects already on the page.
When there is a white rectangle on a page - it will still show as white over the background, and sometimes some pages are scans of information previously printed on paper. Then the whole page is scanned - including the white areas, and these is 'white' image data where you want to see green.

E.g. on page 3 of your sample file there's a path object at the top of the tree (effectively behind all others on the page), that is white in colour and covers the entire page:

Hi, Stefan,
when the attached file opened by pdf x-change viewer, those pages ate white
when the attached file opened by pdf x-change editor, those pages ate light green
Is there any difference between the display strategies of two softwares?
How can pdf x-change viewer achieve the same effect just like pdf x-change editor?
Thank you!

Hello Celk2010,

In the case of this specific document, there are shape objects with a stroke color of "none" and a fill color of "white" as the background for these pages:
image.png
the viewer is using the fill color, while the Editor is using the Stoke color (as it should for shape objects) this causes a discrepancy. Unfortunately as the Viewer is discontinued, there is no way to change this behaviour within the application. If you wish to change this for the document itself, you can use the Edit > Shapes tool in the editor to delete these background "shapes" and then save the document that way, which will give you the desired result on the upper page in the viewe, (page 3 of your document) as you see in my screenshot.

I hope this helps!

Hi, Stefan,
Nowadays are busy with project work, sorry for replying so late
Deleting the shapes one by one really works, but it seems a little inefficient when facing hundreds pages
Should there are some methods to delete all the shapes of hundreds pages at the same time?
Thank you

Hello celk2010,

I am afraid that those shapes are part of the page content, and they were added there by the software which created those PDF files, and we can not really distinguish or automate the removal of such objects from other content on the same page (e.g. text) which you would like to keep.

The majority of text based PDF files should not have such "white" background shapes, so the accessibility colour overrides should work right away for the majority of files.

It seems to use PDF-XChange Editor to view those pdf files should be the most easiest way...
Thank you so much!
