Latest version?

Hi, just wanted to get the newest 64 bit build (version 322.9), but the downloadable MSI package seems to contain the 322.8 only. The portable zip file does contain the latest release (version 322.9), but is 32 bit only...
...any chance to get the latest 64 release easily?

Thanks ;)

Hello Puffolino,

Yes, indeed the links are for the older version.

We will fix that and send you the new links.

I apologize for the mistake that we have made. .

Regards.

Thanks for that, just an interesting observation: my avira antivirus got nervous with the new 32 bit version - the first time ever a (false?) alarm came up for the viewer program.

Hello Puffolino,

Thank you for reporting that, I can assure you it is thankfully a false positive, and you will be safe to make an exception for that case in the time being. I have passed this to the Dev team, and informed my supervisor, they will take the appropriate steps to resolve this in the future.

Best Regards,

Hello again Puffolino,

Can you verify whether it was the viewer executable (after install)that made Avira nervous, or the installer itself?

Hi Daniel,
I extracted the viewer executable from the msi package - you may do a check using www.virustotal.com which shows that only avira is nervous about the program (and only the 32 bit variant). Maybe you can contact avira to correct their algorithm or do some tests what has changed from the previous versions.

Hello Puffolino,

Thank you for your report.

Could you please send us the link to your VirusTotal check?

Meantime I have used UPX to compress the exe file (which should not influence the virus check results but the MD5 hash codes) with no change in the results:

Hi Puffolino,

when I test the Viewer installers and executables in VirusTotal I get no virus warnings. I tested the zip installers, the msi installers and the Viewer executables post install for both MSI and EXE. All pass VirusTotal without issue.

When you said "I extracted the viewer executable from the msi package" - how did you do that? There are command line options and archiving applications that will extract files from an MSI - which did you use? It believe this is the only case i have not tested.

regards

Paul,
I did use a file commander tool which handles msi packages like zip files - I will repeat the whole process and use "msiexec /a" to do another check here, please give me some time to do that...

Did some tests with the following results using the viewer version 322.10 and upx 3.95w:

uncompressed exe files 32 and : no virus alarm
upx compressed 32 bit: virus alarm (2/69 hits in virustotal.com)
upx compressed 32 bit using the option '--strip-relocs=0': no virus alarm
upx compressed 64 bit: no virus alarm

So everything is fine now, sorry for all fuss...
