[sug] A changelog

Post by Nelson Tai »

Hello develop team,

Since the update function has to be triggered manually and the introduction page doesn't contain any version information (or do I miss it?), I wonder if you should post an announcement containing change log in this forum when a new build is available.

Thus, users can easily know that there is a new build available and can know what's new.

Regards,
Nelson

Thanks - there is both an autoupdate feature and a a version history page coming soon.
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Best regards

Some of the great changes:
  • New and improved comment & markup tools, such as highlighter, callouts and text boxes, a comments list (not sure hwo it should work)
  • Text selection by column (especially useful in multi-column text)

Thanks :)

The Comments list is not 100% complete - hope to have this fully functional in about 7 days time.

autoupdate feature
Does xchange viewer also search for updates and install them automatically?

Esspecially computer beginners don't want to do updates for themselves, they are overwhelmed which such things.

There is a check for updates item on the Help menu. Installation is simple and semi-automatic. One is asked to close PDF-XChange during the update process. If necessary, a system restart is advised.

Fully automatic updates without user request are disliked by most users, who wish to choose when to make changes to their software. That's OK for antivirus patches, but not for other program updates.
