How do I paste chinese text into the Text Box Tool?

星 does not show up in the Text Box Tool when it's pasted from google translate. What package must be installed to enable this feature? English works fine.

I've tried to copy/paste this symbol and some more random ones translated by google translate and did not experience any problems.

Please check your Editor's version (Help -> About) and if it is not the latest one (317.1) update and test if the problem persists in the new version.

Note that it's not only stripping the chinese unicode but also the Latin-1 charset? Should i install some other package eg: OCR for Chinese comes separately so..

should i install an interface pack? the only language listed is english

The Viewer is no longer developed. This product has been replaced by the PDF-XChange Editor:
