Win2008-R2 Terminalserver, XNview

Post by pdfcoder »

Good evening,
we did install XChange Viewer on a Windows2008-R2 server with terminal services enabled (RDP).
Install has been done according to:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowled ... nal-Server

Afterwards we did install Ghostscript-9.09 and XNview-2.13-full for picture/Pdf management, correct setting had been done.

BUT:
XNview does not find ghostscript, and it does not display PDF files, only XChange Viewer icon is shown. Also XChange viewer as default PDF programm is not started!

Maybe it depends on issued command during installation in terminal servers install mode:
PDFXCview.exe /makeassoc:web=true // sets association for PDF files and enables web browser plug-ins
this will set the correct registry keys to later be copied to your user profiles when they first launch the Viewer.

How to fix this issue? Xchange Viewer and XNview shall be enabled showing PDF files.

How to revoke the command PDFXCview.exe /makeassoc:web=true to original settings?

Thanks...

Hi pdfcoder,

Thanks for the post and sorry for the delayed response!
Also XChange viewer as default PDF programm is not started!
Can you please provide more detail here? Does attempting to open the PDF not open in the Viewer at all, or does it return an error message? Please be as specific as possible.

That command should be setting the full associations for the Viewer, correctly. Just to note though, you cannot have two applications enabled as default, this would present a conflict of logic to Windows, so only one application can be chosen as default. So please try setting either the Viewer or XNView as default, but not both.

Cheers,

Problem has been solved by following steps:

Uninstall Ghostscript/XNview/PDFviewer.
Reboot
Install in terminal server's install mode:
change user /install
1. AGPL-Ghostscript 9.10 (32bit)
2. XNview 2.13 full
3. PDFXchange Viewer
4. Execute PDFXCview.exe /makeassoc:web=true
5. Starting once XNview and Viewer
change user /execute
Reboot.

Only the 'inline' displaying of PDF files in Mozilla FF must be set 'by hand'.

Best regards!
