PDF's not showing properly

Post by plish »

When I open a certain pdf (which opens fine in Adobe), it shows rectangules in place of apostrophes and in place of a few other letters. How can I get it to open properly? I would like to ultimately export this document as JPEG's but when I've done the export the rectangles show up.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Hello Plish,

I suspect the issue is with the way fonts are (not) included in the document.
We would be able to tell you more if you can provide us with a sample of your file.

Best,
Stefan

I trimmed out the majority of the document and saved it. Looking forward to hear what you find out!

Thanks!

Is there anyway I can get a beta? I have a deadline of May 5th for a project I'm working on and I've been trying other methods but haven't been able to get decent quality for reproduction.
Thanks,
M

I opened the sample file with LibreOffice, exported it to pdf. The result opens in PDF X-Change Viewer with apostrophes.

Printing to PDF from LibreOffice (Draw) with PDF X-Change Print Driver works too.

Looks good to me but i never printed it on paper.

Hi verwirrt,

Glad to hear that you found ways to make it appear correctly (it should also print just fine), and as for the beta - if we decide to release one publicly - this will be announced on our website - so make sure to subscribe for our newsletter if you haven't already:

Since my goal is to ultimately take it from pdf to jpeg I wasn't able to do the above fix. What I was able to do was use 4videosoft software to transfer the pdf's to jpegs (but that software lacks the ability to resize the output.) Then I took those jpegs and made a pdf in pdfxchange. Then I exported those as jpegs and was finally able to get to what I think will work.

Thanks,

M
