Mouse left-right scroll broken

Post by capn_buzzcut »

As of version 2.5.199 (and 2.5.200 I just discovered), I cannot scroll left and right using my mouse scroll wheel. This worked just fine in version 2.5.196. I'm using a Logitech model MX600, and I've tried playing around with the mouse settings to no effect. I can scroll up and down using the mouse wheel, and I can scroll left and right using the arrow keys, but not the mouse wheel.

It is working fine for me. Shift + Scroll wheel scrolls left and right.

Doesn't work here. Running Windows XP. Updated Logitech software to latest version - no change. Left and right mouse wheel scroll works fine in other apps.

Hi capn_buzzcut,

have you checked Logitech to see if there is a driver update for your mouse? If we are going to look into this we'd need to confirm that you do have the latest drivers.

let me know please.

:-)

Yes, even though the Logitech "Setpoint" software reported it was up to date, it was actually a couple of major versions behind. I downloaded the very latest version (6.32.7) from Logitech and installed it, and made sure it was up to date as well. Mouse driver version reports version 5.33.14. Windows XP is up to date as well. The mouse works as expected in other applications, and in PDF XChange up thru at least version 2.5.196 - I didn't try any releases between that and 2.5.199, when it first exhibited this behavior.

Hi again capn_buzzcut,

I did a little googling on that mouse, I'm not clear exactly which function you say does not work. Side scrolling typically would be done by grabbing the horozontal scroll bat with a LMB click and dragging it.
The mouse works as expected in other applications, and in PDF XChange up thru at least version 2.5.196
Looking at images of that mouse I see that there are many additional buttons. Is it using one of these extra buttons that's the issue or can you not scroll sideways at all?
Best regards

I can't scroll horizontally using the mouse wheel - rocking it left and right. I use PDFX to highlight construction plans, so when I use the polygon line tool for instance, I may find myself scrolling all over the document - up, down, left and right before it ends.

As I said, I can scroll horizontally using the arrow keys, and also by using the scroll bar as you suggested. Just not by rocking the mouse wheel. I can still scroll vertically by using the arrow keys, rolling the mouse wheel, or using the scroll bar.

Hi capn_buzzcut

we took a look at this and believe we have found the cause. We've made the changes to the source code and the fix should be available in build 201 later this month.

thanks for the details and helping us identify this.

Hi capn_buzzcut,

good news - this was addressed and corrected in the last build. Build 201 is available for download. The exe installer (recommended) is here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/PDFXVwer.zip

Other installers can be found on the Downloads page: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/product/downloads

Please update your Viewer and confirm that this does indeed work for you now.
